7. There are laws in most states |

that say you cannot be evicted in less than 30 days
in fact, you should have at least 30 days to file an appeal, and then 60 more days for it to go to court
edit: In fact, at least in MA, nobody can kick you out with less than 30 days notice, and even then they have to prove you violated a contract. That's Massachusetts anyway.

15. That's where they got you |
|
When you had a lease, you had cover. They clearly waited until the lease expired. Nor you're on a month-to-month tenancy, and in most jurisdictions - maybe not yours - all the landlord has to do is to give you thirty days notice to vacate.
It really sucks. Leases protect both tenant and landlord. I hope you find a great place and that the move isn't too traumatic.

12. My townhouse is being converted to condo's and I was told I had to move too but... |
|
Edited on Sat Nov-01-08 10:44 AM by Breeze54
the law in Massachusetts states that if the landlord evicts you due to converting to condo's then the landlord has to give you time to move/find a place AND pay all the expenses of your move.
I have movers coming on Monday morning. All paid for courtesy of my landlord to the tune of approx. $800.00. ;)
See if there is a similar law in CO. Also you should have a court hearing before they can evict you or it's illegal. Contact your local court. They'll know and advise you of your rights. Also call the local Housing Authority.
Good luck!!
Moving sucks!! :(
