A few days back, I cast my vote at the post office in my small town, Alabama home. I fairly FLUNG the envelop into the chute while muttering "take THAT, you bastards".
As I looked up, an elderly lady from my Church grinned and said "voted absentee, Ron, I assume".
I  and said "yes, ma'am".
The reply was astonishing: "That colored man, Obama, stands to be our best President, ever".
I didn't see her leave. Too busy collecting my chin off the floor.
:wow:

1. I thought Obama's race might work against him in this election |

I saw the latest national poll from ABC tonight. They have Obama up by 9 points nationally. I bet that means a lot of Republicans are crossing over. I think people have looked beyond the superficial and have seen who the superior candidate is. I look forward to the day when race is not a factor at all in this country. Obama is moving the country closer to that goal.

In her younger years, this lady wasn't at all shy about using the "n" word. Dylan was 40 years ahead of his time but, "The times they are a-changing". Better late than never.
