So I called in sick to work today |
|
but I'll admit I don't feel sick, I just needed a day away from that place...
Now I feel guilty. Should I?

1. Guilt? Sounds like you need a mental health day off tomorrow. |

2. I have no opinion on what you should or should not feel. |
|
Emotions just are what they are. Even if you feel guilty, it does not mean the guilt is justified. The reverse is also true.

Your guilt serves no useful purpose in this instance. Talk yourself out of the guilt and enjoy the freedom from work you have today.

10. If you needed a day away, that mean's you're sick of the place |
|
No guilt involved. I did it frequently when I hated the job I was in, now it's extremely rare that I call out sick, it actually means I'm physically ill when I do it now.

12. Feel guilty about taking a sick day? Take another sick day to make up for it |
|
Tell your boss that you feel really bad. Don't tell your boss you have the '3 beers short of a case' disease and need to sleep it off.

Do not feel guilty about taking a day off. I'll do that from time to time. We need time to just step back and recoup.
Wishing you a great day!

14. No. You're not "physically sick" ... but... |
|
you definitely need a "mental health day" if you're "sick" of the place.
Eventually if you drag yourself in day after day, continually being sick of the place you're going to end up paying physically as well as mentally. You'd have all the ingredients for a mental breakdown.
Not everyone ends up at a job they absolutely love going to day in, day out. My aunt happens to be one of them - she started at the same place at 15, she's now 50. She only takes days off when she really is sick herself, or if gran is sick (or when granddad was real sick).
Me? On balance I like my job but there are those days... plus I have mental health issues anyway.
Mark.

15. I feel guilty when I call out too. |
|
But mostly because I can't stop thinking about what bill might not get paid because of the time I missed.
