Yikes!! Just got a facebook invite from the guy who was my one true love |
|
in college! He's some big PhD expert on Southeast Asia now. Living in Thailand. We ended not on good terms, when he wrote me from his Peace Corps place to tell me he'd fallen in love with one of his 12 yo English students. This was 25 years ago, so I suppose I should be over it. But I'm not.
How should I respond to him?

6. Yep. It struck me as creepy at the time. He waited til she was of age, |
|
brought her to the states, married her, and then they settled into a college town while he did his PhD and she her undergrad. Then she got involved with a professor and left him and moved to Canada. The he started calling me again. But not for long.

10. Here's the wierd thing: I was involved with two different guys |
|
who went off to Thailand, and married Thai women. I'm the best damn thing to ever happen to single Thai women.

Just keep reminding yourself what a sick motherfucker he is.
I wouldn't respond to that kind of person at all.

20. All his male friends, including clergy, couldn't see why I found it sick. |
|
They just kept telling me I was having trouble dealing with the fact that he was interested in someone else. I went through a "Geez! All men are sick!" period because of this.

I can see how that would start an "All men are sick!" Phase.
Thank God that's not true. Geez is right.
The nerve of him to contact you after all this time, after something like that. Argh... it's pissing me off and I'm not even involved. :P

Are either/both of you married? I reunited with my high school sweetheart after 37 years and now two divorces later, we're together. These relationships can be very, very powerful, so I advise caution unless you're both free to let whatever happens happen.
ed. The 12-year-old thing is kinda weird. That might give me second thoughts.
