1. "The Meaning of Life" scene -- Duggar style |
|
Inside the house. A pregnant woman is at the sink. With a cry a newborn baby, complete with umbilical cord, drops from between her legs onto the floor.
Mother: Get that would you, Jinger... Girl: All right, Mom.
The girl takes the baby. Mom carries on.
Later that day:
Jim Bob Duggar: We'll call her "Jujube"! Well, or maybe "Jujit-Sue" ... Hmmm ... Actually, "Jambalaya" has a nice ring to it ...

4. Why are we glorifying these people???!!! |
|
I was so peeved over Thanksgiving - seems some family from my hometown area of Harrisburg have their own show on one of these TV stations - the mother had twins and then Sextuplets (not natural). I had to leave the room - these shows that glorify those who overpopulate the earth.
I'm not against a large family - my grandmother came from a family of 15. But I do believe that in this day and age it's riduculous to be overbreeding just so you can set some sort of bizarro record saying you popped out the most kids or the most kids at one time.

21. Yeah, that's why they do it. |
|
Edited on Fri Dec-05-08 03:26 PM by primate1
The reason they had two sets of multiples is because she was going through fertilization treatment because she wanted a kid but was diagnosed polycystic ovarian syndrome. They wanted another kid, so they tried again with feritlity treatment, and then had the sextuplets. They were offered selective reduction, but declined.
My girlfriend watches that show all the time, and it's hardly glorification. I for one definitely want to limit the number of kids I have after watching that show.
Something tells me some kind of bizarro record was the last thing on their mind at the time. Try toning down the reactionary bullshit a little.
As for the Duggars, they're just creepy.
At the same time, if they can provide for their families, I don't see the big deal. I'd prefer, if they wanted a huge family, they maybe consider adopting some kids who need a good home instead, but it's not like they're living in abject poverty and making the kids suffer by adding more to the family.

7. And if those 18 have 18, and those 18 have 18... |
|
Edited on Fri Dec-05-08 01:35 PM by dawgmom
..in just two more generations, they'd have 5,832 great grandchildren. As opposed to someone who has two children, who will have 8 great-grandchildren, or even someone with three kids, who will have 27 great-grandchildren.
5,832 vs. 8. Let's see....whose carbon footprint is bigger? I could drive around the planet a few hundred times in a Hummer, with the air conditioning running and the windows down, and never begin to equal the irresponsible impact those boneheads will have on the planet.
And once again, somebody tell me why we are glorifying these people by giving them a TV show?

...I count 10 boys in that picture. My guess is that they'll go out into the world with a full quiver, just like their Daddy. And all their wives will be soft-spoken little clown cars, just like Mom.

25. Back when I was a kid, I saw a news feature about a family that had 21 kids |

However, as the newscaster noted, only 19 children lived on the family farm, because...
(wait for it)
the two oldest girls had become nuns!

17. And think of all the tater tot casserole the Duggar spawn will consume in their lifetimes. |
|
TATER TOT CASSEROLE from the Duggar web site (One of Daddy's Favorites!) 2 lb ground turkey cooked, seasoned, drained 3 2lb bags tater tots 2 cans cream of mushroom 2 cans evaporated milk 2 cans cream of chicken Brown meat & place in large cass. dish. Cover with tater tots. Mix soup & milk together. Pour over top. Bake at 350 for 1 Hour. Makes 2- 9”X13” pans

That is truly frightening. Eating like that should cut a few years off all their life expectancies. I may have to recalculate my carbon footprint for the Duggar baby factory.
Oh, never mind. It's soooo much more healthy because they use ground turkey instead of beef. Just cancels that cream of mushroom soup and the fat in the tater tots right out....

is that he's run for office before (sometimes successful, but never made it to Congress).
I find this family fascinating but only because they're freaks. If TLC really wants to cash in on the Duggars, then Stacy and Clinton need to kidnap the Duggar women for "What Not to Wear"

These people are fundies. Studies have shown that second sons have a higher chance of being gay than first sons. Third higher than second. Fourth higher than third. And so on. I wonder what the odds of boys 8,9,10,11 and so on are of being gay. Wouldn't their fundie parents just love that.
