Help the technologically incompetent make an international call

Surely one of you can answer this--the AT&T web site certainly can't. I just got to Germany. I have an AT&T cell phone that works in Germany. I have instructions to dial +1 and my number in the U.S.. There is no "+" on my cell phone keypad. How do I dial a "+"?

Apparently, the "00" is a given? It's been too long since I lived in Germany, and I mostly used a calling card when I lived there.

edit: you don't actually dial the plus sign...it's the equivalent of our dash.

I managed a call home. I'm such a klutz with stuff like this. I probably would have managed it sooner had our guidebook not been in our luggage, which is still in Atlanta.

Answered my own question through googling--lord knows AT$T didn't help. + means dial 00.
