Good morning Lounge
How are you today? I woke up early and came to work a little bit earlier. Maybe I can leave earlier too :D
Last night I continued packing. It is not fun to live between boxes x( Good thing I am gone pretty much all of next week (Wednesday through Sunday)

Picture(s) of the Day ... as by request from AirmensMom ... my moving experience ..

My recent apartment when in order (more or less)

So I'm not the most orderly person on the world ....

Now how it looks these days ...

Empty boxes, already folded

Packing my books - it is even more empty now

Stacks of boxes already packed

2. I don't evny you one bit.
I hate moving with a passion. It feels like my whole world is falling apart. It just sucks the life right out of me. I don't know why moving feels that way to me, but it does. It's almost like a weak moment when bad luck or some demon can just come in and sweep me away and no one would know. That's what moving feels like to me. I wonder if there is a name for fear of moving?

5. Chaos??
I think a lot of people feel that way. Your world is changing, you have to seperate from stuff you love but don't need ... everything is in a total chaos and mess and you still have to try to keep the oversight .... Your comfort zone is being invaded.

I don't know any people who like moving.

Edited on Fri Dec-19-08 05:58 AM by Jamastiene
I guess part of my problem is that when I was a kid, I always dreamed of moving into my dream home and everything being neat and orderly. The reality for me was, that my aunt's home, my childhood home, was foreclosed on, and we HAD to move. Only thing is, my aunt didn't tell anyone until the morning of the eviction. There was a mix up in the sheriff's department and they had to come back on the Monday with the paperwork. We had the weekend to get 26 years of family memories and everything out. We lost a lot of stuff. It was a sad sad time for me.

Even though that move was horrifying and felt so bad for me, my next move was not much better. It was the dead of winter and everything was in such disarray.

I'm one of those people who has a favorite comfy chair and all my most necessary items all around me. I hate moving. You are right. It's the chaos.

7. I agree, moving sucks!
BUT, if you are going to your OWN place, it's worth the chaos. :D

Be glad that you don't live with a man who insists on having the house all put back together within a week of the move. Now THAT is stressful. :grr:

10. Good morning MissH!
Thanks for posting your moving pictures. It sure brings back memories.

Although not a fun project, just think, in a few weeks you'll be in your own place. You are truly going to LOVE that feeling, and then you'll realize all this stress and upheaval is worth it.

We're in the midst of a big snow storm. Too dark right now to take pics, but it's just beautiful outside. It's days like this that I'm so happy I moved closer to work. I hated, hated driving in this type of weather.

 :hi: :loveya:

p.s. Of course you get to leave work early!

we light candles, and play dreidel (a game with a spinning top, in case you don't know), and exchange gifts. There's a lot of music associated with the holiday, and since there are a lot of musicians in my family, there are generally long music breaks. It's generally a lot of fun.

yep, everyone brings instruments, and there are a lot of singers too. My dad can play just about anything, if he wants too, including unreal instruments. I have a friend who likes to invent instruments - he made a working version of the Vulcan lyre (as seen on Star Trek), not only did my dad recognize immediately what it was, he went on to play it for 2 hours, and earned the (totally unofficial) title of master player. :bounce:

I sing a little, but I'm practically the only person without formal training. Still, people don't generally complain too much when I'm singing.

My mother and my younger sister play the cello, my other sister resolutely pretends she has no musical talent, so she's very rusty. One of my aunts plays guitar and piano, and is a formally trained singer. Both of her daughters sing too. There's more, but that's it off the top of my head.

Sure, come on up! The more the merrier.

87. I took voice lessons
in college. After a while, the professor said, "maybe it's the song ..." Yeah, I can carry a tune, but that's all. Nothing extra. My mom could sing like a bird.

OMG, what a talented family!

That would be fun. Wish I could!

100. personally,
I think it's that you do sing that's more important than if you sing perfectly. I know some people who really can't carry a tune, who sing all the time anyway, and as far as I can tell, they are calmer and happier people because of it.

Next time you'll come :D

Actually, in my opinion, the better party is on New Year's Eve. A whole bunch of my family's friends get together in this huge house in Virginia. It's whole families getting together, and we only do it once a year so it's really cool. The house was hand built by our friends who own it, and it's gorgeous. The whole group gets together and plays games and music, etc., etc. until after midnight, and then generally we put on classic movies until sunrise. We all crash for a couple of hours, and then spend New Year's Day together. That's the one you should come to, it's my favorite holiday of the year.

I'm fine, thanks. Nothing exciting for the weekend. I've been cleaning out closets and such, so will probably continue. I like everything to be sorted out and orderly ... helps relieve stress to get rid of the clutter. Getting close to the end of it and then maybe I'll clean the floors. Who knows?

What about you? The weekend is finally almost here. Are you taking time off for the holidays?

holding two conversations like this.

I agree, music is important. For some reason I've been listening to a lot of big band/jazz from the 40s when I've been cleaning recently.

I'm afraid that even though it's a big break, I'm going to be extremely busy. I have friends coming into town, the family party, and I'll be going away for New Years - we go to a friend's house in Virginia every year. I'm hoping for some down time, but I don't expect much of it.

I'm hoping to take the camera out for some good photos (maybe we'll get snow!).

I have both a knitting project and a needlepoint project I'm working on - I'd like to make some progress on those, but the knitting, at least, I can work on while I'm talking to other people.

Stuff like that. Maybe even go to the movies. There are a few things out I want to see.

73. Ah ...
Makes me relax just to think about it!

Sounds like you have some nice ideas!

Well, I don't know how long the kids are staying. Harleykid and her husband live close by, but the others are from out of town and staying with us. It's a bit hard to pin them down as to when and how long. Nothing new. We never know what to expect until they get here. We don't even know whether to expect them on the 24th or 25th, or if they're coming here first or going to harleykid's house. That child did not take after me. ;)

Once everyone leaves, harleydad will probably do a little work on the barn he's building. If it's not too cold, I'll "help" him ... meaning that I'll stand around and watch. Or maybe I'll sit in front of the fire and do some reading.

79. We're used to it.
We've known her all her life, after all. First she's not coming, then she's coming but can't make it for Christmas, then she's coming for Christmas. But there's still time for something to change. I don't do a lot to get ready for them, just make sure we have clean towels and food. And she's the mother of our only grandchild, so we cut her a LOT of slack!

He's building it from scratch. It's at the point where it's framed, has a concrete floor, roof, and OSB on the sides. No doors or windows yet, but the openings are there. He's going to side it with hemlock board & batten, but that hasn't started yet. And he's going to make the doors out of the same. The barn is made out of rough cut red oak. It's pretty cool!

Yeah, I bring the hot chocolate. And donuts if I go to town. :9

78. We generally
don't mention the middle name unless it's to yell at the kid. So affectionately, we would call him Johnny or Jack. But if he's in trouble and we need to yell at him, it would be, "Johann Wolfgang, get your little butt over here!"

Now, if he had siblings, that would be another story. Generally, you have to go down the entire roll call before you get the right one. As in, "Fritz Hans ... no ... Udo Badwulf ... I mean ... Johann Wolfgang!!! Get over here NOW!"

I'm sure they do the same in Germany, no?
