Windchill Advisory: single digit temps and 40-50 mph winds will bring a windchill of -15F overnight. |
|
We sent OktoberKid to my Mom's, where they have woodstove heat, so even if the electricity goes out, he's safe and warm.
ThinkBlue1966 and I are bundled up in our warmest clothes. We're putting an extra comforter in Toby's crate overnight, we've locked our indoor cats in our bedroom with a space heater, and the outdoor strays are being lured in as we speak by a big plate of canned food. We then plan to hole up in our bedroom with two blankets and the space heater. If the power goes out (which it might--the wind is knocking down frozen tree branches, ugh) we will see you all tomorrow.

2. Well, they're usually pretty leery of humans, but they do let us pet them. |
|
We'll be keeping whichever ones we catch locked in the bathroom with food, water, and a litter box, so they aren't in contact with our indoor cats, and they aren't anywhere near the dog.
I think some of them might actually belong to neighbors, but said neighbors don't seem to give a shit what happens to them, so it seems that we have been "volunteered."
ThinkBlue just got the tailless white manx kitty in. Still working on the three-legged orange tom. For a cat missing a leg, he's damned hard to catch! We're gonna try tuna from the can next. No stray can resist that.

4. We have a dual smoke and carbon monoxide alarm, plus a home fire extinguisher |
|
right next to our bed. We are well-prepared. We'll probably be getting up every few hours just to check on the dog and the cats in the bathroom, so we should be okay.
Thank you for your caring words, though.

6. Toasty thoughts to you and your woman. |

Check your PM.
I've had to start checking the weather in Celsius. I don't know what these numbers mean in Fahrenheit.

7. We're not going to be quite as chilly tonight |
|
13 degrees real temp, wind chill dipping just below zero, but I'll be bundled up underneath the down comforter tonight, at least one of my three feline fuzzy buddies will be under the covers, with the other two weighting down the corners to keep the wind from flipping the blankets up.

We're getting it here in the midwest, too. It's been below 0 with horrific winds all day.
Wind chills of 20 below to 30 below zero tonight and Monday morning. Temp is -4 F now. :(
