Oh noes! A chicken wing shortage right before the Super Bowl?
Oh, the humanity!

http://www.charlotteobserver.com/176/story/504899.html

In the past week or so, some fretted that the spicy snack would be scarce for a number of reasons: the highest wholesale and retail prices in recent memory; an industrywide drop in production of about 5 percent; a bankruptcy filing from major Texas producer Pilgrim's Pride, though it remains in business; and a push to sell wings by restaurant chains like Pizza Hut and KFC. Taken together, connoisseurs worried that demand would outstrip supply.

I have a simple and elegant solution: Use cardinal wings instead. And be sure to put plenty of fries on top!

3. That was, in fact, the motive behind the Great Chicken Wing Boycott of '09
a Niagara Falls pizzeria owner stopped serving them for one day to protest what he says is the annual wing price hike right before the Big Game.

5. Unimportant....no NY teams in the game this year
It's AZ vs. Pittsburgh fer God's sake. Do some tacos and some of those funky sandwiches where they put the fries in the sandwich.

You'll have fans from both sides covered!

out of chicken thighs. For me, that's the only way to eat them.

8. The guy in charge of chickens was on Colbert last night
He pretty much said that there is a "US Chicken Reserve" just some plants that make nothing but wings that are already pumping out chicken wings. So they teased you with a chicken wing shortage but they really werent short any chicken wings!

9. You wouldn't know it by the Shop-Rite in Yonkers.
Here they're selling them in 5-lb bags on sale for something like $8 (I wasn't really paying attention as I don't eat meat, but there was an entire frozen-food case of them so they were kind of hard to miss.)

Clearly, a loss-leader but nevertheless...they had plenty.
