HDTV is interfering with my suspension of disbelief |
|
Is anyone else having this problem?
We're thinking we want our old fuzzy TV back, since movies now look like bad soap operas on Univision.

1. It takes some getting used to. For me it's seeing the condition of everyone's skin that |
|
was the real biggie to adjust to.
However, the food commercials are killing me. Everything looks so good!

3. There's not a "fuzzy button"? |
|
I'm thinking maybe of smearing something on my glasses to fuzz it up a little.
During scenes shot from multiple angles, things like the focus and color balance of each individual camera is distracting as all get out.
These people are wearing bad makeup and the props are flimsy.
I think I can understand why "reality TV" has gotten popular, because this is making "movie magic" look pretty cheesy.

5. Amazing isn't it? How all these "beautiful people" have such |

Horrible skin. Seems like with all that money they could afford dermabrasion, or a really high end dermatologist to do something. Then again it might be a reaction to all the chemicals in the makeup they wear.

4. You got one of them new 1080ps with the 120 hertz or whatever? |
|
My friend got a Vizio and movies look FREAKY on that thing. Even regular television is all super enhanced. Everything looks like Dr Who! I'm stuck in the dark ages with my 1080i! lolz

Precisely.
It's like it was all "shot on video", and not in a good way.
I realize a lot of things are shot on HD video now, but movies don't look like movies, if you know what I mean.
Now, sure, you can say, "Well, duh, you are 'missing' the lack of resolution", but there is a world of difference between a "soft", yet large hi-res image, and one which looks like an episode of As The World Turns.
Plus, directors are going to have to learn things like, "If someone walks in from the outside wearing shoes, then the bottoms of the shoes are not clean."

7. Hey! Don't be hatin' on telenovelas! |
|
They are a frequent topic of discussion in our lunchroom. Also, "Ugly Betty" began life as "Betty la Fea".
