Is it weird to tape the news? |
|
One of my neighbors thinks I'm weird because I tape the 5-6:30 pm news, (ABC and Milwaukee affiliate,) so that I can skip the stuff I have no interest in.
Anyone else do this?

You are not weird! Well, at least, no more weird than my husband and me!
we always record the PBS Newshour and then skip the stuff we don't care about...Besides, it comes on at an inconvenient time for us...
So...

2. Not a bad idea. Nope, not weird at all. |
|
I'd say more of a good time-management tool.
Cheers.

not weird. I tape the local news if I can't watch. Especially if I see a story during the "pre-news" commercials that interests me.

My neighbor is a guy (yes, male,) who tapes his soap operas and Glenn Beck during the day, and watches them at night and on weekends.

The fact that he told you that is downright freaky-scary.

5. Our local stations have digital versions of their signals |
|
That play the same newscasts over and over and over. So I can watch it whenever I want. But, in this conservative area, I don't want even a minute of that shit. Plus, it's 18 minutes of weather, 2 minutes of sports, and 2 minutes dedicated to local, regional, national, and world news. Worthless buncha hacks on our local broadcast networks.

6. Here in WI it's worse. |
|
Near Milwaukee they had a guy who ended up in a police chase, then shot to death by cops.
Maybe 2 minutes of that news, then they had 10 minutes of the repukes running for governor. That's why taping the news is so handy.
Especially I can skip the meteorological lesson from the weather person and get straight to the forecast.

7. At least you get some political news |
|
We usually get the latest military rah-rah story and then it's all weather. And it's usually wrong. I have some gadget/widget thingie on my desktop that gives me current temp and a 5 day forecast. It comes from the national weather service, and it's always WAY more accurate than the predictions by the local helmet-haired "meteorologists" who prattle on for half the newscast about high pressure this, high pressure that, blah-blah-blah.
It pisses me off just thinking about the waste of time my local stations' newscasts are.

8. I would think of that as more time delaying, than taping. |
|
Makes sense - let's you skip the commercials and the crap news stories which make up about 70% of any nightly news broadcast.

i had a friend who taped everything he watched on teevee for at least 20 yrs and since a lot of it was on VHS his house looked like one of those "hoarding shows" houses full of boxes where you have to machete your way through boxes of taped teevee programs to find yr way to the bathroom
that's one house that katrina swept away that NOBODY misses not even him
if you tape the news, watch what you like, and clear it away so you can find your house (or in these digital days, your important videos that you would actually like to see again), i have no problem with it
if you are just compulsively taping the news every day and saving all this crap, bless yr heart, yeah, it's probably on the weird side altho there are more destructive things to save .. after all i also know "cat" hoarders and even a guy who couldn't throw out a dirty pizza delivery box...

11. No. What's truly weird is watching commercials. |
|
I just can't do it anymore, everything is "taped" (DVR'd)

13. It's a generic term nowadays. |
|
Even I use a DVD recorder, instead of tape.
