1. Some of those are quite a stretch |
|
I get the joke in "Drummer Dick's Discharge" but, really, anyone who thinks "Be Bold with Bananas" is sexual is really pushing it.

I found some of them to be head-scratchingly stretching. Some of them, though, are pure gold.

10. My family actually used to own one of those books |
|
"The Book of Boners." Back in the 1940s and 1950s, "boner" meant a funny misstatement, such as "Noah's wife was Joan of Ark."

13. Or as recently as the 80s (maybe) -- "Boner" from Growing Pains |
|
Edited on Wed Apr-28-10 11:39 AM by gmoney
As a big baseball fan growing up, I recall reading about an historic screw-up known as "Merkel's Boner" where Fred Merkel made some stupid baserunning error that cost his team an important game (too lazy to wiki the details right now), but even back in the 70s, reading about that made me laugh, so whatever writer/producer approved naming a character on a network sit-com "Boner" was probably an old codger -- "Oh, that crazy kid, he's always pulling a boner."

12. I've seen a copy of Scouts in Bondage! |
|
It was in the window of a bookshop near Bloomsbury in London along with several other books with suggestive titles.
I think Drummer Dick's Discharge was amongst the books in that display, IIRC.

16. I'm not sure "Games you can play with your pussy" |
|
was entirely unintentional.
We used to have the book when I was a kid (don't remember what age I was at the time), and even then, I was pretty sure it was intentional.
I don't recall at all the contents of the book, though I don't think it had anything sexual in it.
