United States vs. Slovenia World Cup Match Thread |

I'm stuck at work, so I have it streaming on ESPN Radio. Should be fun trying to get any actual work done for the next 100 minutes, lol!
GO USA!

5. We're playing Slovenia, not Slovakia |
|
Edited on Fri Jun-18-10 11:21 AM by KamaAina
Slovakia: formerly part of Czechoslovakia (and a rather good hockey country since the breakup)
Slovenia: formerly part of Yugoslavia (not really known for, well, anything at all)
Adding to the confusion is that Slovakia also qualified for the Cup; they drew New Zealand 1-1 in their opener.

Michael Bradley saves the day in the 80th. Otherwise, we would have faced the daunting task of finding 300 million paper bags for all of our people to wear. :P

8. Just saw the disallowed goal |
|
That. Was. Horse. Shit.
Granted, (based on the hi-lights I saw) the way the US played in the 1st half, they should not have been in that position. However, on a positive note, the 2nd half comeback was very encouraging.
That being said, that "ref" should be fined, banned and never allowed on the field for another Cup match. That "call" was so bad, I'm wondering who paid him off. That was robbery in plain sight.

I'm deep in soccer country here. The conclusion my fellow Germans came to... they were thrilled! Especially with the U.S. not being such a "soccer nation" - holy shit, what a game those guys played. They gave their all! Both teams did. It was a fast and good game, a fair match between both teams (other than the ref's disgusting call on the goal).
Donovan's goal was a masterpiece.
