6. I was out and about in it today...
.
.
.
.
...takin' the bus and doing a little walking.
.
.
.
.
Waiting in the direct sunlight.
.
.
.
.
I'll take this over 95 degrees and 90% humidity ANY day of the week.
.
.
.
.
Humidity here about 6% today. Nice little breeze (not the open oven door type we sometimes get.
.
.
.
.
No, that 6% is NOT a typo.

7. I do enjoy the lack of humidity.
My son recently started a new job, tree trimming.

He was working in a restaurant, so it will be a while before he
gets in shape.

He had a rough day today.

8. I got a summer job in college once working a shovel...
.
...for a small excavation company putting in sewer lines in a new subdivision.
.
.
By LUNCH -- THE FIRST DAY, my arms were cramping so badly that
I could no longer even GRIP the shovel, let alone use it.
.
.
My boss showed me the Joy of Gatorade.
.
.
I had been sweating out all my potassium and/or electrolytes and just drinking water.
.
.
No problem after that.

10. Last week we had upper 90s with 95% humidity
108 heat index. Not a whole lotta difference between 109 dry heat and those conditions. The only advantage with our humidity is when it stays high enough, we get thundershowers in the afternoons and the down draft pull cooler air down from the atmosphere. Of course, the humidity gets even worse, but the temperatures can drop 20 degrees in half an hour.

14. BIG difference!!!
.
I'll take 109 dry heat over 90 degrees or higher with humidity.
.
I lived in those conditions for decades. From late May to late September
when you took a shower, by the time you reached a bathroom door, you
needed ANOTHER shower.
.
.
Stayed damp then... sticky, uncomfortable. Felt and looked like a pig --
'cept pigs don't sweat -- especially not through their clothing.
.
.
Now it's hot but not NASTY.

15. Yeah, sweating here does not do much good
All it does is saturate your clothes and leaves you sticky. But above 100, heat is heat and can kill you if you do not deal with it.

I can't believe I grew up no AC. None in our house, schools, or church. Many stores did not have AC. We had fans, spent a lot of the summer at the community swimming pool, at Grandmother's lakeside house, going to the beach, or playing in the sprinklers in the yard. I remember when they remodeled our church and the public library and added AC - attendance at both rose dramatically in the summer. When they opened the new shopping center and stores there had AC, the old stores downtown without either added AC or went out of business.

We just coped because we had no choice. The humidity never seemed a separate thing from the heat since it was never not humid here in Florida where I have always lived.
