South Beach Diet - Success or Failure? Do tell. |
|
I read recently here on DU that Big Dog was on the South Beach Diet, and it seems to have worked well for him.
I would like to hear personal experience/testimony from those of you currently on the South Beach Diet!

I lost 40 pounds between October and February. I've held steady at 193 since then, which is a comfortable weight for me considering my frame. I'll put it this way--I weigh less now than I did when I was graduated college 11 years ago.
I know a couple of people who have had success on SB as well. In fact, I'm thinking of crossing over to SB, which I understand allows more veggies and fruit.
--edit--
I just felt I should add that this is the only diet that has ever worked for me. I weigh less now than I did even when I was going to the gym 3-4 times per week. I've never felt hungry, and in fact I've felt great now that I'm off the whole blood-sugar-roller-coaster Atkins-type diets always warn about. I sleep better, wake up refreshed, and my energy level is as high at the end of the day as it is throughout the day. Even if I hadn't lost a single pound, the changes in my energy level would have made the diet worth it--and those changes came after the first 3 days of Atkins.

2. My son-in -law is successfully losing weight on |

the South Beach diet. No diet has ever worked for him before but this one does. His blood pressure and cholesterol are too high, so losing the excess weight is lowering those two factors. It's the only diet he says that he doesn't feel hungry on, so he is able to stick to it.

on Atkins about 1 1/2 yrs ago. Now eat what I want, but go back on the plan when I get 5 pounds over.
My sister lost lots on Atkins, but she has backslid from what she tells me in her latest Email.
Don't know anyone on the SB one.

I'm only about 5 days into it and have lost about 6 pounds. The first 2 weeks sorta suck - no fruit or starches. After the first 2 weeks, you can start to add that back in. Actually, with all the new sugar free products on the market, it makes things a whole lot easier.
