Western North Carolinians, a question |
|
First, I'm sorry I wasn't able to take anyone up on their offer to meet for the protests &/or a cup of coffee in Asheville over the weekend of March 20/21. I got buried with work and was unable to take any time off.
But, the question is, what do you know about Bryson City, about an hour west of Asheville? I'd like to move to the western NC area, but refuse to compete in the Asheville land grab and came across Bryson City on a few websites (affordable land, pretty views, etc.). I wouldn't move unless/until I was self-employed, which I'm working on, so while I'm very interested in the local economy, I'm not necessarily interested in a jobs-way, but more in a health-of-the-area way. Seems like BC is an entrance to the Great Smokies, so perhaps although the population is small, there is a lot of tourist traffic?
Any info is appreciated!

at a beautiful spot to do a sweat lodge. It was a very pretty area. I live in Asheville and tourist traffic is pretty much everywhere during the season. I'd look into it further, it might be a great place to buy land, because yes it is being gobbled up everywhere around here.
