Poll question: VH1's new show 'Gaydar' - offensive or entertaining?
VH1 has ordered a pilot for "Gaydar," a reality project in which celebrity guests try and guess whether contestants are homosexual.

Filming on the half-hour pilot is under way in Los Angeles, with Brian Dunkleman ("American Idol") serving as host. The pilot features a three-person panel comprising celebrity guests and a permanent cast member encountering three contestants who keep their sexual orientation a secret. The panelists try to determine whether contestants are straight by playing a series of games with them intended to yield clues. The prize for each correct guess is a donation to a selected charity.

Comedian Scott Kennedy has been tapped as one of the panelists. Should "Gaydar" get picked up, it also could conceivably be a programing asset that would fit in the lineup at Outlet, the gay-themed cable channel in development at VH1 parent company Viacom.

10. or race-dar
I don't know, it is a "game show," but seems offensive due to its complete stupidity and lack of redeeming qualities.

That being said, what do I know, I haven't seen it!

2. It's a game show...

Come on... It's a game show. How can this be any more offensive than "Blind Date" or the "Third Wheel". If your a contestant, and you go on the show, you know what to expect.

7. Blind Date and Third Wheel don't reinforce negative stereotypes.

The idiots on those shows only make themselves look bad. This gaydar show will be reinforcing stereotypes of a group.

We wouln'd be having this conversation is the panelists were deciding whether the guests were white or black and the show name was Afro-Dar.

11. remember the fools
who videotaped "bums" fighting (after paying them a nominal fee, of course) and made a fortune selling the tapes over the internet? People have proven time and again that they will do anything for a buck or two if it's needed, but that doesn't make it right.

but then, what do I know? I'm basically a moral relativist.

8. Just a thought
If Nazi Germany was to happen in this day and age, I'm sure they'd have a TV show called "Spot the Jew".

12. This is offensive. I'm picturing ALL of the panelists will be straight.
This show is so wrong on all levels. I wonder if GLADD...the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defimation, a watchdog group monitoring gay images in the media...knows about this idea.

13. I'd have to see it
It depends on how they handle it. It could be offensive, but it actually sounds like it could be fun. And I'm gay.

It doesn't sound like they are trying to reinforce stereotypes so much as mix 'em up. So it could be fun. I'm certainly willing to give it a try.

Khash.
