My dad knows folks who can put a good word in for me as far as an internship with a few Republican congressmen. So I'm writing up my resume (will be a college freshman in DC in the fall...I'm a little bit older than the avg. freshman because of a year in Europe...long story, but I digress!), and trying to weigh the pros and cons of doing this. Obviously, an internship with anybody would provide me with invaluable experience as far as gaining political know-how goes. Should I do it? :-P

1. As long as you wouldn't be working for Tom DeLay, I say go for it. |
|
Take the knowledge and the contacts you'll make from doing the internship and bring them back over to the (D) side of the aisle!

Keep your ears open for any Democrats that might need an intern. Take the internship with the Republican and then jump the aisle as soon as humanly possible.
Edit: clarity

Is that going to hurt my chances of getting said internship or should I just switch to Independent (can't possibly stand registering as a pubbie).

2. Entering the lion's den can be hazardous to your health |

Proceed with extreme caution, and remember to listen to at least two hours of Air America daily to wash off the residue.
I'm sure it will be an interesting experience, but I wouldn't do it for any amount of money or potential future prestige.
If you do, good luck. If you don't, better luck?

3. I'd apply for that one... |
|
(as a semi-sure thing) and search around on the internet and find some others to apply to while you're at it, if you get accepted to do more than one, you can choose which one you'd really like or if you only get accepted to the one with the Republican congressman then take that opportunity. :)
