It appears the Pittsburgh 14th Ward Democratic Club has endorsed the Republican Club's Treasurer over the Democratic Candidate for City of Pittsburgh School Board

1. In local elections party affiliation is not always important.

People often claim to be a member of a party just to get on the ticket. Not uncommon...

Is the Republican candidate more qualified and a better choice? That should be the question. The other candidate could just be running as a Democrat and not share any of the ideals.

2. First of all

the Dem candidate is an incumbent. I believe she is running for her third term. She has served her district very well during her tenure, as well as the district on the whole.

Second, the new candidate has absolutely no experience.
One reason he is running against her is because he disagrees with returning to K-8 schools instead of 6-8 middle schools.

I am not arguing they should automatically back the Dem candidate. If they don't like the Dem, don't endorse them. Better to endorse nobody, though, then to endorse the Republican.
