US Attorney General visit slammed (UK)
~snip~ US Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, a defender of the controversial camp, is due to speak next month at Lancashire Police headquarters in Hutton, near Preston, to promote new American-style peer courts.

Mr Gonzales is expected at a conference to mark the launch of the courts in Preston areas plagued by juvenile nuisance, but the visit has been slammed by a city councillor.

Coun Michael Lavalette of the Respect Party, said: "I don't think we need lessons in justice from a man who is directly responsible for the abolition of the most basic and fundamental human rights, as seen at Guantanamo
Bay. ~snip~

The conference on September 12, labelled 'Healing the harm – building communities', will be attended by Chief Constable Steve Finnigan and Baroness Henig, a former Lancashire County Councillor. ~snip~
