LETTER FROM SENATOR TED KENNEDY

A year from now, on July 29, 2004 at the Democratic National Convention in Boston, our party will nominate our candidate to be the next President of the United States -- and we have our work cut out for us to win the election.

However, by March 2004, we'll know who our nominee is. And President Bush won't hesitate to spend his bottomless campaign fund trying to smear our nominee with lies and accusations. To fight back, the Democratic nominee will need every last bit of help we can give.

That's why I'm writing now to ask for your support. President Bush is vulnerable -- we all know that, and we know it more and more every day. That's why the White House fundraising machine is already in high gear. By the end of this year, Republicans will already have raised a staggering $250 million to drown out our Democratic candidate.

To prevail in 2004, we need your support more than ever -- and we need it now, because early money counts the most.

The DNC has set up a Presidential Fund to provide needed support to our nominee in the crucial period before the Democratic National Convention, and to fund our field operations in key states which will be vital to victory.

We need you to stand with us in this all-important battle for our freedoms and our values.

https://www.democrats.org/support/kennedy.html?s=NETA135-

In just two years' time, President Bush has already undermined many of the basic ideals that we have worked so hard to protect:

* He has chipped away at the civil liberties guaranteed in the Bill of Rights.
* He has sided with the polluters and against our priceless environmental history.
* He has lavished massive tax breaks on the wealthiest Americans, and dumped enormous federal debts on our children and grandchildren.
* He has tried hard to undermine Social Security and Medicare.
* It's clear beyond doubt that he and his administration manipulated the nation into war in Iraq, and had no serious plan to win the peace.

And that list is only the beginning. On virtually every other major issue, the Bush Administration has been all promise and no performance.

That's why the coming presidential election will be a major turning point for the nation. With your help, the Democratic Party can take back America. We can elect a President who can be both strong and right on foreign policy and national defense, who will not lead us needlessly into war, and who will share our high priorities on all the other issues we care so much about, and that make America truly America.

Yours in victory,
Edward M. Kennedy

3. I had such a crush on him in my early teens in the '60's.
I was glued to my transistor radio trying to hear any news about him when he was in the plane crash. I had dreams of seeing him become President one day.
I still believe he was framed and that there is a story that never came out about the drowning. Does anyone know of any Conspiracy theories on this?
