we should be able to pick this seat up with little problem unless Bush runs like 60-40 here which I don't see happening

3. Salazar appears to be a strong fundraiser. |
|
Edited on Tue Apr-06-04 05:42 PM by leyton
"Salazar has raised $525,000 from 600 donors in the past three weeks. Two-thirds of the donations were for $100 or less, and many crossed party lines, the campaign said. Donors included Republican businessman Martin Hart, independent Bill Coors and former Denver mayors Federico Peña and Wellington Webb, both Democrats."
Looks like he will not only be well-funded, he has a wide base of support. Though I wonder: if he has 400 donors who gave $100, the other $465,000 came from a mere 200 donors, which averages more than $2000 per donor. Can this be right?

In LBN, someone posted that Coors will go for the Republican nomination for this seat.
Gloom. He'd be hard to beat.

Ken Salazar is an excellent candidate and I think that he will win this race regardless of his opponent. Coors may have a good name but we don't know what kind of candidate he will be. He is going to have a primary battle which will probably hurt him.

Kos says today that choosing Coors is proof that the GOP has given up on the seat -- that they're willing to let a millionaire spend his own money, but they're not willing to spend theirs, on what they now see as a pointless quest.
Well, I hope all of that turns out to be true and that my gut political instincts are wrong. On the bright side, my gut political instincts usually are wrong.

Colorado is a slightly Republican state, so Coors may have the advantage.
