Dean campaign is looking for Fall Interns in several states...
They are volunteer positions, and not only available in Vermont. If you live in one of the following states, go to www.deanforamerica.com and apply for an internship!

Here are where they need people:

Campaign Headquarters: South Burlington, VT

Wisconsin

Des Moines, IA

South Carolina

Washington

Virginia

Arizona

Oklahoma

Michigan

NH: Manchester, Dover, Portsmouth, Nashua, Keene, Salem, Lebanon, Berlin, Laconia and Concord

1. I am really tempted to apply
I am going to school in DC and I am so tempted to apply for an internship in Virginia, but I just started college and just got a job on campus, so I am afraid if I get an internship too it will just be too much. But on the other hand, a part of me says it may be my last chance (somehow I have not quite gotten used to this whole "frontrunner" status and still feel like it's a longshot that Dean will get the nomination) and maybe I should try for it. I probably would not get it anyway, because there are so many people my age who probably will apply.

2. You don't have to work full time or regular hours
But if you think it's going to be too much with what you're already doing, you could always find out where the closest office is and get involved volunteering when you can. I do that in my area. Although I live in Vermont, one of the NH offices is about 15 minutes from me, so I volunteer there. The staff in the office are great and there's ALWAYS something you can do to help. They love to have people go in and do things to help.

3. Which New Hampshire office do you volunteer at?
Edited on Wed Sep-03-03 09:40 PM by UnapologeticLiberal
I have been up to New Hampshire to volunteer twice this summer, and I have been to the offices in Manchester (which I am guessing is not the one near you because it's closer to Massachusetts than Vermont) and the one in Concord. Is that the one you help out at?

4. The Upper Valley...Lebanon
Dean was there for the grand opening, but I missed it. I had just come back from Maine and was just too exhausted to get up that early and go. :)

I'm very seriously thinking about applying for a part-time internship.

I'd like to
A) Learn more about the intricacies of political work.
B) If it turns out that I like the work, I may use the experience to get my foot in the door for paid political work on a full time basis and at the very least it's experience to add to my resume for other jobs once I have the time to work full time again (I've quit my job and gone back to school to finish my degree).

The initial offers are a test run of the idea...

California will come soon, never fear.
