Kernan's Political Future |
|
What do you think Joe Kernan will do? Three possible scenarios:
1. He fills out his term as governor, retires, and enjoys life as a former public official.
2. He decides that it would be best for Indiana that he run for governor in 2004. This is what he should've done to begin with, so I'll be rooting for it.
3. He fills out his term, then runs for Sen. Lugar's empty seat in 2006. As a former governor in an open seat, he'd surely win. Sen. Kernan, anyone?

I doubt, strongly, that Lt./Acting Gov. Kernan will run for Governor in '04. It would make him look opportunistic, and, Kernan would not want to appear as such. Kernan is an extremely noble politician... the word politician, in and of itself, does a diservice to him. As for future offices in '06 and beyond... He would certainly be a great Senator but the assumption that Sen. Lugar would retire is a BIG one... I think, however, he would be the IDEAL opponent to Chris Chocola (IN-2), let us pray...

2. I've actually heard several times that Lugar would retire |

I've been hoping that Kernan ran if Lugar retired, since he'd probably be the frontrunner for the win.
