Our Dean table/voter registration table at Giant a big success |
|
Members of the Meetup group I started a couple months ago arranged to set up a table at the local Giant supermarket to hand out Dean literature and voter registration materials.
I got a call from the coordinator at around noon saying she needed more Dean literature, so I rushed out and made copies and took them over. In the short time I was there, the material I brought over was already disappearing...
Also, most of the voter registration forms were handed out to new voters.
I actually had concerns that people in our rural community might be hostile to the volunteers.
We're going to be setting up a similar table at the local community college and we've made contacts with the local NAACP to organize things together.
:-)

1. Get out the vote, so important for Dems |
|
Your post is good news, and it needs to be carried forward on voting day to provide rides to polling places for those that need them. There ARE MORE DEMS than repukes, we just have to god damn vote.

6. Maryland's Eastern Shore |
|
Typically a conservative stronghold (stranglehold?).
I met Dean last week...a group of four of us from my Meetup group managed to get access to the breakfast Dean had in DC. When we told him we were from the Shore and that we were doing a lot of organizing there, he looked a little surprised. "Isn't the Shore very Republcan?" He asked. We told him we're working to change that. :-)
I think yesterday's success shows that we are making progress.

you want your country back. :-)
(Dems will always win the voter registration wars. It's very important. The Pugs know that the majority of America is more liberal than not. That's why they're against motor-voter and the like. Great work.)

5. Sounds like a lot of fun! |

Next weekend we are doing an event for the Dean Visibility Day. We are going to stand on the bridge between New York New York and the MGM (I'm in Vegas) and hang a huge Dean sign from it. I'd love to have a table there with material to hand out and have as good luck as you did in getting people to register and read up on the issues.
Congrats!
