http://www.ctnow.com/news/politics/hc-caucus0916.artsep16,1,5402876.story?coll=hc-headlines-politicsJoe Lieberman is at long last headed for the small screen.
For two days in New Hampshire this week, Lieberman's every baby kiss, handshake and scolding of President Bush was captured by a camera crew for the purpose of Lieberman's first TV commercial of the campaign. Whether at a Greek festival or a town hall meeting, Lieberman was wired for sound and trailed by a camera operator and a sound technician with a "boom" microphone on the end of a pole.
The campaign has not said when or where the commercials will appear. Lieberman is one of the last among the major Democratic presidential wannabes to air campaign ads.
One of the country's best-known political consultants, Mandy Grunwald, stage-managed the show Monday in Claremont, N.H., at a small machine shop that makes parts for helicopters and airplanes, a fitting backdrop for Lieberman's ongoing jobs tour and his "Manufacturing Recovery Plan." Dressed in black and wearing sneakers, Grunwald waved her arms to shoo away the press and avoid spoiling the shot as Lieberman walked along the shop floor with a machinist who was wearing an apron.
The camera was on Lieberman's every word, as well as the audience reaction to it, during Lieberman's two-hour town hall meeting Sunday night in Manchester.
