1. CNN's Bill Schneider says that the race is... |
|
Dean vs. "Stop Dean".
Speculating that Clark may be the only one who can stop him, the others haven't been able to land on a single candidate yet.
Of course it's lame to be saying that when Edwards is announcing.

2. Schneider's kind of slow |

He seems like a nice guy, but he's always saying stuff that doesn't make much sense. Stewart on the Daily Show gets real good material off of him (it's hilarious).
I don't think Clark's really a "Stop Dean" candidate. If anything, Clark hurts Kerry just as much. From what I've learned so far about Clark, he's just as moderate as Dean on most issues.
I'm supporting Clark because I think if he can show the campaign skills, he's a pretty good mix of Dean, Kerry, and the others. He was anti-Iraq war, but not because he's anti-war in all cases, but because it was going to be too costly and the threat wasn't imminent. He's a former Vietnam veteran and helped bring down Milosevic's criminal regime. He's also a southerner. Finally, although he has no elected office experience or experience with domestic policy, he's a leader and knows how to make tough decisions. In fact, it might be a good thing that he doesn't have a record that Rove can try nailing him on. Just look at how much some of the current candidates' records have already come back to hurt them.
Do I think Clark's a perfect candidate? No, but I want to know that we did our best to take on Pres. Bush in 2004 and didn't rule out any options. Whoever wins the nomination will be our best candidate. Unlike the GOP, that's how our primary works!

3. I think he hurts Kerry more then Dean |
|
Now this is not scientific, just my observations, but it seems like a large portion of Dean's base would not support Clark in the primary because they are not very big on military men. However, a lot of Kerry's base does seem attracted to him because of his military experience.
It might even help Dean because here is a General saying that the war on Iraq was wrong. It makes everyone with that stance look better.
Can't wait to see how this plays out. Welcome to the race General.
