To Some in GOP, Bush's Troubles Become a Liability
COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa -- Dave Boyd, sipping a Busch Light in his lawn chair as Rep. Jim Leach (R-Iowa) approached, was troubled. As a production operator at an auto interiors shop in Iowa City, he worried about the Bush administration's bid to revamp the nation's overtime rules.

"I think it would cut into our income quite a bit," Boyd said of the plan, which would make some middle-income workers ineligible for overtime pay.

"I voted against it," replied Leach, who was attending the town's annual Columbus Day parade. "The theory of those who advocate it is that it gives management more flexibility." But "lots of people would be affected by it" negatively.

Until recently, few Republican lawmakers would be so quick to distance themselves from President Bush. But the president's approval ratings have fallen sharply since April, the nation's job growth remains sluggish and large numbers of Americans feel the nation is putting too much money -- and not enough wise planning -- into Iraq.

As I've said for 1.5 years; Bush is going to have a psychotic breakdown and he will not be the Repuke nominee. He's not able to handle the job President. He has no ability to manage our country. He can only survive if he thinks everyone supports him.

1. He can only survive if he thinks everyone supports him....
...which is why he's not allowed to read newspapers. His handlers can feed him whatever crap they need to to keep him believing that everyone loves him.

4. In some ways, Bush deserves to be re-elected.
Because the shit will hit the fan after 2004 and maybe we need to keep the bastards in place so they can reap their just deserts.

3. As he said on the golf course a few days ago...
as Americans died in the heat and dust of Iraq: "If they don't like me, they can go and get a new leader..." Hmmm, don't tempt us! Even republicans are experiencing cognitive dissonance. How much longer can he stave off impeachment?

6. Tough choice
Do I want a Dem to win and still have to deal with a Republican Congress who will make him the scapegoat or

Do I want Bush elected, so there will be no question as to who has ruined our country. Then impeach and perhaps, imprison, or if capital crimes have been committed......

I'm beginning to think that a little more short term pain will be needed to address the problems once and for all.

7. three words: supreme court justices
the pain will be more than short-term if BUSH INC. is allowed to populate the supreme court with ultra rightwingers... for women and minorities in particular.
