Edwards internal South Carolina poll results
The latest Edwards internal poll shows him still leading in South Carolina amongst "likely" voters. MoE +/- 4.4. (September)

Edwards 23 (23)
Undec. 22 (23)
Dean 12 (7)
Lieberman 12 (8)
Clark 9 (13)
Gephardt 7 (6)
Sharpton 6 (8)
Kerry 5 (3)
Braun 4 (5)
Kucinich 1 (1)

Note that while several independent polls have shown Edwards with the lead, they generally peg him in the mid-teens. His internals are quite charitable. But the trends are interesting in any case.

1. If Dean can finish SECOND in SC he'd be in great shape!
Normally internal polling gives a slight edge to the candidate the results are coming from. But it's good to see Dean in second (among candidates) place. Also good for Edwards too! :bounce:

6. Dean's the only one on TV in SC
When everyone is up, his number goes down would be my guess. When is Clark going on TV in SC? Look at the numbers a few weeks after that.

7. He still leads the rest.
Edited on Wed Oct-22-03 05:57 PM by Sean Reynolds
Which is damn good since he's from the north and is a 'damn yankee'. Look where Kerry sits. Lieberman of course is up there because of being the Veep candidate in 2000.

31. for almost a year
people have been saying that they expect Dean to go down but so far it isn't happening. I don't think he will win SC but a good showing in the top three would give him some bragging rights.

33. Edwards has been running ads for a while ... doing well
As I understand it Dean will not be opening an office here in SC, unless he's changed his mind in trecent days - big mistake - Us southerners take that personal ! Edwards, Kerry, Gep, Lib - even Graham have/had offices here. Yo Dean ... you got all that money .... how 'bout spreading a little love down here in SC !!!!!

14. Can't an Edwards thread
Edited on Wed Oct-22-03 07:03 PM by kwolf68

Be about Edwards? Why does every thread have to be about Dean? WHY? I don't want Dean shoved up my ass on every thread. I'd like to talk about Edwards on this one.

19. And I haven't

Seen a thread about Kerry all day where Dean supporters weren't inspiring me to complain.

That's the gig. His supporters are doing more of an injustice with some of their attitudes (not all of course). I don't want to look at Dean's issues, because Im so busy wading through the hot steamy piles of shit the leave in every single Kerry thread.

11. Edwards is my second favorite right now
Dean is my candidate all the way. I'm a Vermonter and I know he's an awesome leader. Edwards' big hurdle is that he just doesn't have enough political experience under his belt yet. I'd love to see him get Attorney General or even VP because I'd like to see him become president in the future..just not this time.

13. I want to see Edwards as Attorney General...
...I think he'd be absolutely FANTASTIC, and it gives him an "out" to stay in the public eye doing an excellent job in an important post in keeping himself viable for a spot on a future ticket...

that's if he isn't nominee or vp of course...

4. yes
Dean is my first choice, Clark second, and Edwards & Kerry are tied for third.

that being said, I'd be more than happy to vote for any of them in the general election.

12. This has the potential to be a
kick-ass nomination fight. We have STRONG candidates, people. Dean, Clark, Kerry, Gephart Kucinich and Edwards are all very, very plausible presidents.

We'll know so much more after South Carolina, etc vote one week after New Hampshire.

30. sorry but the real story would be a second place showing by Dean
Edited on Thu Oct-23-03 10:34 AM by CMT
I know these are internals so I'll take it with a grain of salt but if Dean came in second in SC it would be the big news. I mean Edwards is the neighbor to the north, but Dean is a Vermont Yannkee. but it is a good showing so far in SC for Edwards.

35. come on, yall
So - SC is in the bag. A third is Iowa is looking more and more promising. With that placing a third in NH is almost guaranteed. Then, the campaign will springboard from there, attack the Dean juggernaut, and go on to win the nomination. What's all the confusion about, anyway? Edwards is electible, has a great platform, can beat Bush. Take this guy seriously. His campaign is set up to take down the rest of the field and run away with the nomination. Edwards 2004
