Republicans attack Kerry
A Republican National Committee spokeswoman criticized Democratic presidential candidate John F. Kerry yesterday for suggesting that Bush administration officials were so determined to go to war in Iraq last spring that they rebuffed a last-minute overture by French and Russian officials to seek a compromise.

Kerry disclosed this week that, three days before the US-led war began March 19, UN Secretary General Kofi Annan told him that US officials had declared that "the time for diplomacy is over." Kerry also said he had received information "from the highest authority" that French and Russian opponents of the war were willing to make "a further offer" to American officials over Iraq's future, but were rebuffed. Kerry has refused to specify details about the offer or the sources of his information beyond Annan.

<snip>

"John Kerry doesn't need any lessons in truth telling from an administration that has consistently misled the American people on matters of national security."

1. the problem is that these guys are so terrified of Kerry's
Vietnam medals compared to AWOL's cowardly track record that they constantly attack him for little reason. Nearly all Republican criticism of Kerry has been unwarranted and has no credibility.

2. as would be expected for a guy who
warrants so little criticism.

Actually, I would extend that idea to all Republican criticism of any Democrats, seeing as how they've done such a terrific, bang up job of governing this country. All Republican criticism is unwarranted.

3. This might be a clue
Our media whores only reported the veto threat. They never reported what the French were really saying.

"Q. – Would you be ready to propose a tighter timetable for the inspections programme?

THE MINISTER - Absolutely, we said so at the 7 March Security Council meeting. we're ready to work on the basis of a tighter timetable once the inspectors have themselves decided how long they need to complete their inspections. We clearly indicated that in UNSCR 1441. There's an obligatory process. The two-stage process, the two stages of responsible action. To do the utmost to move forward on the inspections route and, if we find ourselves at a dead end, then to face up to our responsibilities."

Not likely to forget the French view wasn't being reported accurately. See, I've got this French heritage...

i do that often... nice to hear other people have the same reaction. more attention should be paid to the alternatives that dems like kerry and other nations were suggesting, and not BUSH INC.'s spin on the whole thing.

there was more than one option available once dudududubya decided iraq was going to be the our-- and the world's-- problem. rarely do i hear the dems' additions to the iwr proposal cited as preventing BUSH INC. from carpetbombing the entire ME, forcing a larger disaster than even what we face even now... all too often tactics from the underdogs are overlooked; too bad it's being used as a wedge by supposed members of our own party.

edit: like post 6

6. Oh yay...and after the fact sure was the right time to say something
Kerry should have said something BEFORE we went to Iraq. Unfortunately he couldn't open his mouth with his head driven so far up Bush's ass. This "revelation" is a lame ploy to imply that Kerry has access to information relevent to foreign policy. Unfortunately, having access means nothing if you just sit on it and don't take action.

11. So you don't consider it vulgarity or profanity?
I guess that explains it.

10. Interesting, unique and blunt, as always
I could always beat the living shit out of a dead horse over and over and over and over and over and over and over again like some posters on this site. I prefer my colorful discourse, though. Afterall, the absolute WORST forum sin is to be boring...and I'm anything but boring.

Toddles!

Maybe if your highly repetitive praise of Dean didn't warrant the deflating I wouldn't repeat myself.

21. Here we go again
I have no idea who it is that you think I am, but I assure you that there are plenty of Vermonters who like Howard Dean. And just about all of Vermont believes in gun rights. I don't know what you do for work, mister, but I wouldn't give up your day job to become a PI.
