I love AAR, but can't stand hearing Sam Seder. What gives? |
|
Is it just me or do others have trouble with him? I can't put my finger on it, but one thing he does is interrupt Jeneane too often.

3. They have Janeane Garofalo that's all I'll ever need! |
|
They could have her and a fly and I'll listen. They could have her sitting in a chair reading a book and I'll listen/watch. They could have her just breathing and I'll listen. I LOOOOOOOVE Janeane Garofalo!
But, I do like Sam... I love it when he gets worked up and starts ranting... I can just imagine the staff shoving meds down his throat to calm down. His passion and drive is inspiring, we should all be that pissed off and dedicated to tossing the GOP ghouls out of OUR White House.

4. Janeane is all I need too |
|
Janeane is great of course. I heard of her here and followed her long before AAR. Still, Sam is the only one that gives me that "college radio" feeling. I don't know, too authoritative, too ranty, not enough factual development? Janeane and Atrios sounded great together last night.

7. I think they both have facts |
|
But, Sam needs to source those facts more often. Janeane has sourced her material ever since her early days in stand-up comedy, Sam would do well to take a page from her on that.
Also, please keep in mind that talk radio must straddle both dispensing information and be entertaining in today's world, AAR has no choice but to consider that. Otherwise there will be little difference between AAR's format and NPR's format. Even if they diverge on issues and importance of story. So, by that idea, Sam's "ranting" adds to that entertainment. I'm incredibly P.O'd at the Shrub admin, and I like to hear that other people are are as ticked off as I, I find it reassuring to know that my anger isn't misplaced.

5. I understand how you feel... |

but I won't say any more until people here feel a bit more secure about AAR. Like starting a new franchise in the NFL, you really need more than one player to build the team around, and I'm not sure they have enough on-air experience just yet.
Why Mike Malloy sits at home waiting for a phone call when their schedule isn't even full completely staggers me...
Oh, and will someone PLEASE tell them that they need a new intro? Surely they can do a lot better than that voice saying "The Majority Report"...

6. Mike Malloy sits home... |

Mike is no more inflamatory than the rest of them so I think he would be a great fit too. I wonder how AAR management feels about "Bush Crime Family". Anyway, I think AAR is going to have a great impact.
