Is Ahhnold a hard-core wingnut? |
|
I really don't think so... given that Dems have to work with him now, we should probably try to get a more objective look at his politics. It doesn't do any good to keep attacking him at this point...although if the other guys get a recall going...
Well, my question is this: Can we work with this guy? Where would he be a headache? Where would he be with us?

I already enjoyed noticing people like to prefix his name with things like "Pro Gun Control", "Pro Gay Rights", etc. Must drive the RW'ers nuts.

Pete Wilson is in the Arnie Mix. Wison is a well-known and documented scumbag. Of the first water.

3. He's so stoopid, he's not going to listen to himself |
|
He's so stoopid, he's just going to do whatever his advisors tell him (Karl Rove, Bill Simon, Issa, etc.). He doesn't know anything about parlimentary process or state government. The guy is going to have to learn everything off the back of his hand.

6. I think you're right, Harry |

The thought came to me (as such thoughts often do) while I was standing in the shower. Ronnie Reagan was a dedicated R party flak. He was happy to stand in front of the camera and read the script. Personal hubris wasn't one of his problems -- he preferred the captive audience, lived for cameras flashing in his doughy face, and was willing to do anything the party told him to. He seldom deviated from the script, and I don't think he fooled himself that he was actually running either California or the country.
Arnie is something else. He's got an enormous ego, and I doubt very much that he's going to become a 'photo-op' guy like Reagan did. I'm thinking he's going to believe he actually has the talent to prosecute affairs of state ... and that's going to really cause some serious problems with his 'handlers.'
The only thing they thought, just like with Reagan, was that he had a high 'Q Factor' and he could win -- they didn't think about what was going to happen after they installed him in the statehouse. I think he's going to be a major headache for them because I think unlike Reagan, Arnie actually thinks because he 'won' and 'election' he's actually the governor.
And they appealed so much to the mouth-breathing blue collar crowd, kicking Arnie in the ass isn't going to make them popular later, if he gets voted off 'Republican Island' -- I really hope I'm right that he's going to be a loose cannon, and more than they're prepared to handle.

7. I wonder if Cal recall was indictment of DLC |
|
Davis and Bustamante were both members of the DLC. I wonder if the voters in California would prefer a Republican who acts like a Democrat (presumably, Swartzenegger) or Democrats who act like republicans (the DLC). I hope the DLC pulls itself together before the next election. Horrible gaffes (like writing Bush a blank check for his wars in Afghanistan and Iraq) may haunt the Democrats.

10. there's trouble ahead |
|
for Arnie..he's going to have to pay off his hard right friends in California who will expect big favors..I think Arnie's going to become unpopular soon..as anybody else would have in his position..as bad as it is..I think his election is actually beneficial to the Democrat's presidential campaign
