Job Search Help
For those of you searching for a job (like me) here is a report from Morgan Stanley that may help you.

Industrials: Conditions were mostly unchanged for the industrials group in early April, although conditions improved for the airlines and machinery/multi-industry companies. Improvement for the airlines is seasonal. Prices charged increased for all groups. Prices charged outpaced unit costs for the railroads and business services, while prices and costs increased at the same pace for electrical equipment and machinery/multi-industry companies. Labor costs are squeezing margins at air freight and surface transportation companies, and materials costs, specifically fuel costs, are squeezing margins at the airlines. Hiring plans are fairly robust for the group, with machinery/multi-industry, railroads, business services, and air freight and surface transportation companies planning on increasing hiring somewhat over the next three months. All groups with the exception of airlines plan to increase capex over the next three months.

I had an interview today for a service position and they go we have NO openings in that, we are looking for commission only sales people, I felt like asking them why they lied and lured me in for a interview under false pretenses, assholes.

There is just nothing available, none of the S&P industrial companies on my list above are near me and most of the jobs on their sites are for manufacturing engineers (which I don't quailify for) plus I can't afford to pack up and move anywhere anyway.

And Monster.com is a total waste of time, IMO.

3. Yes, Almost All Of The Feedback From The On Line Job Boards
Is nothing but come ons for get rich quick schemes or commission sales positions.

I interviewed recently and felt strongly that I was a threat to those already employed at this particular company.

I sense a growing disquiet and sense of ill ease among many people that are still employed.

4. So you ARE getting interviews! Good. Now it's a matter of time.
What's going "wrong" on the interviews...notice any patterns?

5. Now two and a half years unemployed
I've actually received and collected over 1500 rejection letters. I've quit counting my inquiries and contacts.

'Course it really doesn't help to be female, something other than fundamentalist Christian and politically moderate or liberal while living in crazy red f*cking JOklahoma. I have experimented and discovered that I do receive a better response to my resumes if I use my initials and keep all the initial contact gender neutral.

God, I'd love to get out of this place.

And, yes, I'm educated - BA, MA, MBA, JD - with my most recent degree being awarded in 2001.

7. Thanks!
I'll check those out.

To date, I've used more job boards than I can count, three university placement offices, and all of the friends, family and acquaintances I can.
