A better airline meal, but not for peanuts - Air Canada cuts meals

Fresh, tasty and restaurant-quality are not adjectives often used to describe airline food, but Air Canada is betting a new meal plan will have passengers putting down the complementary peanuts to pay for dishes like Mediterranean-style chicken breast.

The airliner announced Tuesday that meals will no longer be included in economy class on medium-haul domestic flights beginning Aug. 1. Instead passengers will be treated to a cash-only onboard restaurant service program that offers "hearty, hot snacks" for $7 to $8 and boxed full meals for $7-$12.
