They can't talk about raising taxes because they can't promise anything for raising taxes except saving the country. They are going to try and dance around the problem without saying " you are going to have to pay more taxes and you are not going to get anything for it ". Find any solution you want, but don't ask me to pay anymore taxes. Got to get over that hurdle. It is patriotic to pay taxes. Face the reality and tell the $250,000 plus. You have to pay more taxes to save the country.

1. How many votes do you think we would lose if we raised taxes on.. |
people making 250,000 or more. We might even gain some voters.

2. Exactly, but Congress is shaking in their Guccis |
contemplating the loss of re election funds from fat cat donors, especially those lovely bundled contributions from corporations in which the corporation makes a huge donation in the names of its employees.
That's the problem right there. They don't realize it's the voters who put them into office, not the admen who buy time for TV commercials we all miss because that's the time for a trip to the loo.

3. Don't be so sure. Middle income and unemployed freepers are |
against this proposal. Totally weird.

4. Middle income and unemployed Freepers aren't in Congress |
thank heavens for small favors. Congress is the problem, not the voters of whatever political persuasion.

5. I was responding to the post re: corporate and 'fat cat' donors |
of their campaigns and I'm sure they are part of their constituency.

6. Congress needs a pay cut, too. |
How is it that they just voted themselves another pay raise in the midst of all this?

7. Whit house staff got a 'pay freeze,' not a cut. Now that Congress |
gave themselves a raise already, they too, should have a 'freeze.'
