Ashcroft failing on prosecution of terrorists |
|
Very little attention has been paid to the absolute failure Ashcroft's justice department has had in the prosecution of Zacharius Mousauwi (sp?)the only 9/11 conspirator to be brought to trial. ZM ineptly attempted to defend himself, and has admitted his allegiance to Osama Bin Ladin. However, because Ashcroft refuses to play by the rules, this case is slipping through his fingers. The Court has demanded, and the Constitution requires that the accused must be provided any potentially exculpatory evidence. The Justice Department is stubbornly refusing to allow access, and has been severely sanctioned by the court.
Add to that the mess in Guantanamo Bay. The Kangaroo "Military Tribunals" are not yet up and running.

1. The entire "strategy" in prosecuting Mousaui |
|
is to let this run it's course through the conventional courts then move it to a military court.
