Things that go BOOM!
First ... order some Tannerite

Next, break out that trusty AR-15 at your favorite outdoor site:

Finally ... watch what happens to a dozen phone books with a bottle inside:

And for extra style-points, stick a bottle inside a Compaq Presario:

1. Is that you in the pics?
frankly, I never cared for messing with explosives....I've met too many "professionals" who were "missing members".

I much prefer shooting up appliances... ;-)

2. Yep, it's me with my buddy's AR-15

(I only own a couple of 9 MM's)

I prefer shooting up computer equipment too ... being in IT it seems a 'natural' thing to do ;)

On edit: Tannerite has to be shot with a high velocity projectile to explode. It's almost inert otherwise. Not much chance of losing a digit unless you get fragged with it.

4. I hope you cleaned up that mess
Tannerite is a lot of fun. I just watched the instructional video that comes with a case of targets.

5. Man...

I wish you wouldn't post that here. That stuff is legal for now, but eventually someone is going to catch wind of the fun you can have with it and they'll try to outlaw it. Sad, really, because it doesn't have a practical use seeing how you can't set it off with a fuse or electical impulse. Hell, it won't even burn (nor does it when it "explodes" actually, from what I've witnessed and red.)

BTW, it's fun as all hell and I highly recommend doubling up the charges... :)

They are right when they say it's inert unless hit with a high velocity round (.223 and up). I hit it with an 7.62X39 and had mixed results. Even the 223 past about 100 yrds had a couple duds.

6. A blasting cap will set it off
Look on the Tannerite Web site. Dan Tanner demonstrates blowing a tree stump with a shaped Tannerite charge.

The stuff is much safer to handle than black powder (because it isn't flammable) and has better blasting power.
