I carry one, plus a straight razor and various other things. After 3 gay bashings and a rape, I decided I needed to protect myself. And I'm really not in favor of firearms except for target practice and hunting. But a boy's gotta do what a boy's gotta do.
Funny story. I had to go to court for a traffic violation. My friend Kelle went with me. By the time she and I divested ourselves of all our weapons, it looked like a small arsenal. Guns, razors, knives, brass knuckles, etc. And we're two of the most peaceful people you could ever meet. But still, as Bob Heinlein said "The unarmed man in an armed society is a very nervous man".
I only ever fired mine once in anger. And that was into the ground. A man was kicking a dog to death. I told him "Get away from the dog or the next one goes into your chest", I don't think I could have followed through with it. But the bluff worked. And I'd already called the cops and SPCA. Who showed up and dealt with it.
Khash.

I would say that the Pink Pistols ARE an arm of the LIBERTARIAN PARTY, and should be treated like any other gaggle of right-wing assholes.

http://www.pinkpistols.org/antigun.htmlThe enemies list. Replete with GLBT-friendly organizations ... and hey, Democrats. College Democrats of America (How could it be, that the Democrats as a Political Party profess to be the leaders in the defense of our citizen's {sic} Civil Liberties. When they are the first as a major Political Party, against the 2nd Amendment and an 'Individual' Right to a Self-defense?).
Women's National Democratic Club
Carter, James E. - Former, Democrat {sic} President Rodham-Clinton, Hillary - U.S. Sen., D-NY: Clinton, William Jefferson - Former, Democrat President ... to quote just a few. And the closing chorus: In my opinion, it would appear, that the conservative, 'Religious Right,' Republican, sector of the nation's leadership. Is no more in favor of the 2nd Amendment, or an 'Individual Right to a Self-defense,' than the, left leaning, socialistic, Democrats. Perhaps it is time, to start looking at, thinking about, and voting for the Libertarian Party's candidates.
I would also add some of the words of Jesus on this subject, as it seems they have been mis-represented by our religious leaders, for all too long now:
'Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I am come not to send peace, but a sword.' - Jesus, in Matthew 10:34, the Holy Trinity Version, Catholic Bible (1951), and the King James Version.
'But now, let him who has a purse take it, and likewise a wallet; and let him who hath no sword, let him sell his tunic and buy one.' - Jesus, in Luke 22:36, the Holy Trinity Version, Catholic Bible (1951), and the King James Version. Gee, someone was just singing from that songbook here today ...

that the Pink Pistols are populated by Repubs, Liberatarians, and Democrats. I suspect that most are in fact left leaning. Now in the whole scheme of things I would guess a low percentage of GLTB population are associated with the Pink Pistols, but does the Democratic party want to alienate yet another sector of our base with rabid gun control stances? After all, the party has already alienated much of the rural/blue collar traditional Democratic base with this failed policy stance.

Naziism as you seem to advocate, Ive.
I want to be able to see the world the way it seeeeeeems to you. Not for long, that would probably make me dizzy; just to get a glimpse.
Either that, or instructions for mixing the serum one must drink in order to so lose one's natural inhibitions against doing bad things as to claim that things seem so as they are not. The ability to do that might come in handy now and then.

It appears they got stuff up for the "06 elections. Has it really been since '05 since I've looked in there?
It may be interesting, but it ain't a well maintained, regularly updated page.

21. Of course gays carry heat... |
|
Wasn't at all that uncommon at the range I used to shoot at to see gay couples come in to practice. Lesbians seemed more common, but that may be just coincidental to the time I was there.
Considering the range was in Florida, probably many people would bet that they would have been hassled by the members. Never happened. The shooters at that range and I suspect most other ranges are, believe it or not, open minded. The range master, being a retired police officer, could easily determine sexual orientation in most cases. If, however, a gay person asked him for assistance with his shooting he was just as willing to help as if the person would were straight.
A common stereotype is that shooters are racist. In my experience, at the ranges I've shot at, this just is not so. My old range welcomed all shooters regardless of gender, race or sexual orientation. Some may have held different views from the majority of the members, but we found them interesting and we all had one big thing in common...shooting handguns.

23. Found similar "treatment" at Eagle Peak Range near Austin, TX... |
|
Full-service, rather formally-run range 35 miles from Austin. As you might expect from being close to Austin, a lot of variety; blacks, Mexicans, cedar choppers, Asians, old hippies in tie-dyes, lots of women (why wasn't I around 20 years ago?!), and GLBTs. Now, if I could only afford the gas to get there more often.

24. In my experience at gun ranges, |
|
with the exception of discussion of gun rights, politics seem to be left at the door. For the most part people are not there to discuss politics.
Even if you don't agree with some one's lifestyle you can fully appreciate their desire to not get victimized for that life style, or for any other reason for that matter. I personally know a few people that took a step back after the Matthew Shepard case came to light. Whether you believe it's by birth or by choice no one deserves to die like that for any reason. I haven't met anyone at a range that didn't think gays deserved to be able to defend themselves from such a threat. I have never seen anyone rebuked for being gay/black/etc. They're just another guy/gal there to hone a skill. A skill that people at a range certainly understand could save their lives.
And on the gun issue Democrats are going to keep taking it in the neck as the most prominent Democrats are either openly anti-gun or have records to support an opinion that they are anti-gun. Trust me single issue "gunnies" know who is and isn't a 2A supporter.
