NY Times bloggingheads: "Goodbye gun control"

It's good to hear gun control's obituary read on no less an anti-gun site than the NY Times', but as you hear at the end of the piece, gun control extremism is quite a monster. The threat of a return from the grave is real.

We need a stake.

4. I'm still concerned...
because the fact is that gun rights activists have a valid distrust of this administration when, until recently, the administration's own website touted a desire to re-enact the failed "Assault Weapon" Ban, when a staunch, long-time gun-control advocate (Eric Holder) is elevated to Attorney General, and when both of the administration's nominees to the USSC have histories of supporting gun-control as well.

Not only do we need a stake, but we need to sever the head and quarter the body, to cremating the sections separately, and to bury them to the four corners of the nation, purhaps encasing the staked heart in concrete and dropping it to the bottom of Lake Tahoe....

5. "Eternal Vigilance", is the key term we need to remember..
I agree, that while the current administration, does deserve credit. But we need be vigilant..

Anyone notice, that for the most part, the ONLY senators, banging the "gun control" drums in goverment, are the same ones left over from the "heady days" of the early 1990's and the gun control movement??

Seems like the rest, even if they offer tepid support, seem to wish the issue to go away.

The simple facts are hard for the Anti-Gun rights folks to ignore...Thier side has been loosing support since 1994, many "movers and shakers" in the gun control movement, from that era, are long gone, either they "gave up" or "where shown the door"...While the vast majority of us, on the civil rights side of the equation, are still here, with the our foots on the gas pedal.. I will not give up, till our civil rights are assure.

I, like most of us in this movement, is here to win, however long it takes....

7. Credit for what?
I agree, that while the current administration, does deserve credit.

Credit for what?

I personally am grateful that the current administration has shied away from gun control. But I am quite confident that this is not because they have had any change of heart concerning the right to keep and bear arms. Rather, they simply know that it is politically impossible to enact their desired agenda.

11. Famous last words, eh?
That's why I added a strong qualifier.

I don't trust gun control to stay in the grave.
