Hamas seizes aid meant for Red Crescent
Hamas policemen seized a convoy of humanitarian aid bound for the Palestinian Red Crescent on Thursday evening, the second convoy it has taken from the aid agency, aid employees said.

Policemen from Hamas halted 14 trucks filled with food and medicine at a checkpoint after it crossed an Israeli checkpoint into Gaza on Thursday, said employees of the Palestinian Red Crescent, who declined to be named, fearing reprisals from ruling group Hamas. A Hamas official said the aid was seized because the organization was distributing aid to former Fatah fighters and not to impoverished Palestinians.

Employees from the Red Crescent said they were meant to distribute the aid to some 8,000 needy Gaza residents from lists of people the organization keeps. The aid came from the organ

I think that if someone isn't happy with their version of culture, then it's up to them to change it from the inside.

I do not believe that any outside country has the right to step in and tell a country what is best for them

either that or there is a double standard....but i've been told its not true, so i go with the internal culture of hamas

3. Bloody crooks...
from what I can gather, they got elected in the first place, at least in part because the Gazans were fed up with Fatah corruption. But Hamas are at least as corrupt. Stealing aid meant for needy people in your country is just the lowest of the low.

4. So just where did the aid go?
Edited on Fri Feb-08-08 01:07 PM by azurnoir
The article says they delivered it to Hamas run hospitals, but maybe they're selling it on the black market or something, that's where the millions or was it billions they spent on "cigarettes and motorcycles" in Rafah came from. :sarcasm:

The Palestinian Red Cresent is apparently not well liked by anyone, the Israelis do not just confiscate the aid they sometimes shoot the PRC workers too

Also the main website says nothing of these incidents, I guess supposedly out of fear

5. Are you suggesting the story isn't true?
I'm not sure I understand what you are trying to say. Can you clarify?

6. I was suggesting
that the story was true, of course we are only supposed to see that Hamas stole food and medicine from all Palestinians people, not just the few it was for (8,500 out of 1,500,000), so just who are these 8,500?
When I went to the PRC website it was looking for info on how he list of needy people in Gaza was come about in Jordan, not much on that however what I did find was a story about deliveries to Al Quds hospital in Gaza, is this Hamas run or Fatah run, their website does not say; surprise not.
What I was suggesting is that indeed the supplies might have been targeted for Fatah and Hamas took them, the fact that the story is still as of today not reported on the PRC website would make one wonder just what was up is PRC trying to "protect Hamas good name?" or it's workers in Gaza?

My addition here purely, I am extrapolating or making this up- a few weeks ago we were asked to believe that Qassam ingredients were being shipped into the OP and Gaza under the guise of EU aid, in a very paranoid world would it be such a stretch to believe that arms would not be shipped to Fatah in Gaza under such a guise? One would hope not, but considering the players who knows
