Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei told the Fatah Central Committee on Sunday that he does not intend to continue in the job, Fatah officials said.

Qurei told Fatah officials during a meeting Sunday he did not intend to stay on as prime minister when the emergency government's term expires in three weeks..Speaking after the meeting, Qurei would only say that a new government would be formed in three weeks "with a new prime minister too."

Qurei said however that he would stay on in the position until a new candidate was found.

The Fatah Central Council met in Ramallah on Saturday night to discuss ways of resolving differences between Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat and Qurei, over the composition and status of the new cabinet.

4. Egyption?
For a moment there I thought you were trying to type Egyptian, even though it's been pointed out to you too many times to mention that Arafat is Palestinian due to his parents being Palestinian. If I'd been born in the US to Australian parents and came back here, I'd be Australian and not American. It seems pretty cut'n'dried so I don't really understand why you insist on trawling along with the same worn out line when you know full well it isn't true...

Violet...

2. Didn't you say he was a puppet?
Guess not.

Though this is interesting. I didn't expect Sharon to be actively aiding Arafat, though it appears that he is.

Perhaps if another Palestinian PM rises up, and Labor negotiates with them without Sharon's approval? A few interesting results may occur...

3. An anonymous
Bush administration official was quoted in today's NYT on the I/P issue. He/she sums it up quite well:

"On the Palestinian side there is no one to talk to. On the Israeli side there is no one who will listen".
