Florida and Ohio are going to the courts. You can bet your ass on it. And the SCOTUS is going to be behind Kerry this time, if it comes to that. Bush will get nary more than 2 judges on his side (50 style points if you can guess which two).

Ohio is still in play. And so is Florida, fuck-all what ABC says. There are between 250,000 and 750,000 ballots uncounted in Florida. There are electronic voting machines that really need to be looked at in Florida. And there is the brother of the President of the United States, governor of the one mysterious swing state two elections in a row, that needs to be looked at.

Jeb Bush might have just solidified his own prison term tonight. We don't know yet.

They stole it from us last time, and like a bunch of pussies, we tucked our tails between our legs and ran. We didn't know what was at stake then. 9/11 was just another day then. PNAC was a term that rolled off of no one's lips then. Things have changed. We're not the Whiny Democratic Rabble anymore.

There's a reason the DNC and Kerry prepared and army of lawyers. For the same reason the RNC and Bush did, actually. Because the battle for the Presidency is not going to happen in polling places. It's going to happen in courtrooms. It's going to be dragged across the ugly, blasted plane of American politics.

And no matter what sort of petty rhetoric we hear about how we're "hurting the nation" (because that's their first like of attack in any situation), we have to remember that any damage this sort of fight does is insignificant next to the damage of an unchecked Bush/Cheney second term. We have to remember that we are not responsible for the damage caused by rooting out their evils.

I'm going to fucking fight. Any anyone with more than a handful of posts on this board, anyone that feels their blood pressure rise whenever they see Bush's smirking face, anyone that considers themself an American, anyone here that doesn't fight, well, you can go right to hell. I've got no use for a fairweather Democrat that just rolls over on command. And neither does John Kerry.

"We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills. We shall never surrender!" - Winston Churchill

3. Kerry has it under control.
I see how easily this board has lost faith in him. Just like that! People, he will fight this until his last breath! Trust me on this one. It's far from over!

11. we're in this thing, and we haven't lost it!
News organizations can release all the unofficial 'results' they want: it ain't over til all the votes are counted and the tally certified fair and square.

At this point, defeat is a state of mind -- nothing more.

Folks, I'm a lifelong, worst-case-scenario pessimist. If I'm not feeling defeated, why is anyone?

20. I'd be willing to bet
the greater majority of the regular board members are not giving up. Notice a lot of names you've never seen before? Not every new name is posting for nefarious reasons, but many are leaving "questionable" messages. It's a sad little game some people play. Pay them no mind.

I'm with you on Kerry. He will fight this. And we will win. It's not about "winning" an election, it's about stopping the wholesale theft of democracy by vote tampering. It can not be allowed to stand. Kerry won't let it. He didn't hire thousands of lawyers to roll over so easily. His team saw it coming. They'll take it to the wall.

10. Gore didn't want it badly enough last time!!
On All Things Considered, NPR, they stated that the reason Bush won in 2000 was because he wanted it badly enough to fight until the end!
We can NOT give up, we need to fight until the end...the very end. This country will go on, but its going to be a not so nice place to be if we just roll over and let Bush/Cheney have it this time!!!

"This country, with its institutions, belongs to the people who inhabit it. Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing government, they can exercise their constitutional right of amending it, or their revolutionary right to dismember it or overthrow it"
-- Abraham Lincoln,
16th President of the US
First Inaugural Address, March 4, 1861

16. And look how pissed he is now!
I'll be very disappointed if this is conceded with no investigation or fight. I've seen W relaxing at home with his family but not Kerry watching the returns. I see pundits regretting their Kerry predictions and saying how impossible it is to overcome 3%...yet it's still not over. If it was W with Kerry's numbers he'd have Rove and his minions all over the place talking about Democrats paying voters with crack again!

12. DO NOT CONCEDE
We need to get our message before the media. Ohio called for bush, but provisional ballots not called. This is not a victory for bush. This is not over. let the media know that we will not be cowed this time.

15. I'm wichyou
but I still want to hear more why you think Florida's still in play. I've heard a number of times most of the abstentee ballots are military and will go for Bush, and even if they're vastly Kerry, there's a 350K margin to overcome. I really want to believe you but you got to give me something to hang on to.

18. Blitzer himself mentioned 250,000 to 750,000 ballots in FL.
Those ballots need not be counted until Thursday, and they were not prepared for the massive influx. They said there was no way they would all be counted in time.

But it's more than just the ballots. I'm talking about voter fraud. I'm talking about list purging. Electronic voting tampering (by the software itself, in some cases). Three Bush/Florida elections in a row (2 George Ws and one Jeb) have had surprising and highly dubious outcomes. There's coincidence, and then there's being a gullible dumbass.

If we have to slice through those ballots one at a time, so be it. If the ugly, gross inaccuracies of our electoral process come to light and shame us all, so be it. Progress is seldom painless. But it is highly cathartic.

21. Don't make the assumption
that military absentee ballots go for Bush. Haven't you heard the military is PISSED at Bush?? I've talked to guys who've been there, and they think he's a joke as C-in-C!!!

19. Agreed.
I think some of the whining threads should be considered anti-Kerry threads and be locked or deleted. The pessimism is affecting DU and could possibly affect the campaign. Folks need to self-filter if they are watching tv.
