The Next Democratic Ticket
Everyone here keeps talking about how the democratic party needs to go more moderate to win the swing voters. But you all are missing the point. Right now, the republican party is far right, in fact, farther right than most of the nation. Nevertheless, they won. How is that?

It's the delivery of their message. The candidate with the best message does not win. The candidate who delivers their message best wins. Case in point, Bush. His economic plan benefits very few in the states he won. However, he delievered it in a very focussed manner. As much as we hate the repubs, they are masters of delivery. Whenever Bush mentioned Kerry's name, we heard three things: flip flop, weak, liberal. Kerry never painted his own image, Bush painted it for him with his extremely focussed campaign, something Kerry was lacking. In addition, in case you didn't realize, Bush got the media coverage because he mastered the 5-7 word sentence, not because of any media bias for there is none (w/the exception of fox news). Those short clips get news coverage, not the long-winded answers that Kerry gave, simply because a news station can't give up that much time to a single issue.

The problem with the democratic party isn't that it's too far left. It's that we don't deliver our message the right way. In fact, I'd argue that going too far to the middle would be the worst thing we could do. We need to make a clear distinction between us and the repubs, and we need to do it through our plan delivering the plan in a short, succinct manner that 99% of America will hear.
