we need someone to organize and help us funnel money and buy |
|
a network tv corporation - we need a voice - we need to buy abc, or nbc, or cbs
We need to buy up other media channels. We need george soros and others to help us. We need a leader. A group will to put it together and run it and who knows the legalities.
without true media coverage of liberal view of the world and usa - we have little voice for others to hear - most people watch the news and get all their information from the tv
how can we do this? Who can we get to do this? Who knows media? TV? Radio? Newspaper?

4. You will never have enough money. |
|
They won't give it up. The best thing to do is go underground like many other countries have and like we did in the sixties. The best rose to the top and became mainstream. I remember us seeking out the voice we wanted like we do DU right now. Boycott the mainstream news. You must.

8. Don't ask me for any more contributions |
|
My well is dry. I will be paying off what I did contribute in CC's. We all reached very deep for this election and it's gone. I know I tried and now I must pay. No more chimeras for me. Also, my prescription drug benefit from the Chimperor is costing me twice as much as it did before and my prescriptions can't be substituted with herbs. Old people have real definite needs.

This is the same talk we did after 2000, in bitter frustration.
It costs $200 million to start a network. The big money people just aren't interested. Look at Soros. He said he was willing to risk his whole fortune to oust George. He didn't.
We have to go around the media. In the old USSR, dissidents typed out their news with carbon papers and hid the typewriters and passed the papers hand to hand to hand.
We have printers. We have FAX machines. We can leaflet. We can buy small ads in our local newspapers.
What we need more than ANYTHING else is a leader, though.

7. And radio stations, don't forget AM radio |
|
especially in the South and Midwest. Buy those stations and get rid of the hateful propoganda they spew. Replace it with the TRUTH.

AND we need to better utilitize the media we have. People think these networks are lockstep in line with Rove. That they will ignore real Democrats no matter what. That's not entirely true. The networks depend on ratings for revenue. We provide them with ratings and revenue. We have power that we don't properly harness.
For example, when Donahue was cancelled on MSNBC, the Democratic Leadership should've made it perfectly clear behind the scenes that if MSNBC does this, there will be a total boycott of the network. On both ends. We the viewers would've have done our parts with thousands of angry letters, and they would order their spokesmen and analysts to speak out on OTHER networks about how corrupt and biased MSNBC truly is. This would've worked- either they allow liberal voices on the air, or they lose an enormous amount of revenue and potentially fold. They may not have liked it, but they would've done it to stay alive.
We need leadership who truly represents progressives and has vision and courage to fight for the things we find important.
