Ricky Ray Rector, Sistah Souljah, Welfare Reform & Gay Marriage: WJC v JFK |
|
So, once I thought Ricky Ray Rector and Sistah Souljah were the lowest points of WJC's public career. Now I really understand them.
WJC actually won an election. RRR, notwithstanding, the man never executed a single Federal prisoner. Sistah Souljah notwithstanding, Clinton did more to promote racial justice than any president other than Lincoln and LBJ. Welfare Reform notwithstanding, Clinton amassed a great deal of wealth in the hands of the underclass.
Clinton did what it took to win because the winners get to make a difference in people's lives.
I wonder what people think here about that. Clearly, we live in America where a lot of Americans can easily be provoked into voting against their best interests. Clinton knew how to fight a winning battle in that environment.
Discuss.

And he rode it to victory, but we've been trying to duplicate him ever since and failing. Bush's utter lack of being in touch and Ross Perot created an opening and he seized it, but it was a unique set of circumstances.
Time for a new direction.
One thing I do like about him is his GET ELECTED FIRST mindset.
All the principle in the world doesn't matter if you're on the outside looking in when its time to govern.

2. When did we try to duplicate a southern white male with humble roots who |
|
was more or less a DC outsider and looked outwardly like a moderate but had the heart of a liberal?
If we tried that and failed, I missed it.

3. A lot of people just plain didn't like Kerry |
|
that is the only difference between Kerry and Bubba, and it was the 3.5 million voter difference. Just 2 million of those Americans needed a warmer personality in Kerry and had they switched that would have made the difference.
