Hypocrisy of the "christian right" |
|
It is ironic how some the loudest opponents of gay marriage are those that have been divorced and remarried and are "christian right". This is quite evident in the men's bible study group at my church. Consider the following qoute from Jesus: Mark 10:11&12
"When a man divorces his wife to marry someone else, he commits adultery against her. And if a wife divorces her husband and remarries, she, too, commits adultery.
I don't hear the "christian right" proposing a ban on second marriages when either the man or wife were previously divorced. Isn't this state sponsored adultery according to Jesus ?
Again, this is more about homophobia than it is about christian morals. The heterosexual divorce rate (highest rate in the bible belt minus Nevada) is a greater threat on the American family.
As a White, Protestant, heterosexual, never been divorced happily married Rancher in Texas, I say HYPOCRISY.
Like Howard Dean I'm a fiscal conservative social progressive. We can not be republican light.

1. Of course they are hypocrites |
|
the moralist are really modern day pharisees.
If they would spend as much time on Evangelism as they do on playing kingmake and powerbroker and making republicanism a litmus test for faith. the World would be a much better place.
Ad a Devout Christian, I shall continue to speak about this misplaced zeal.. I shall not succumb to a false choice of either my party or my faith merey because the y tell me to do so.
Those of us in Christian Middle must stand up and be counted and tell the Church the truth.
In the name of politcal powere they are driving people away from God's presence.
It is a shameful...hurtful...boastadtful conceit and they ough to be ashamed.
