are we in WWIII ?
I've asked several people of they think that we're in WWIII now. No one seems to know the definition of World War.
Consider this, we are part of a coalition of war makers. We have invaded and still occupy 2 countries. WE threaten to invade and occupy a few others. Our Prez has declared that we are at war against terrorism. So does that mean that this is officially a world war?

1. interesting question
Dictionary.com says "a war in which the major nations of the world are involved."

That would say, at this point, no. Doesn't mean it couldn't evolve into that.

11. Dictionary probably should go on to say that in a World War
taxes are raised and citizens are told to limit consumption.

13. That makes me wonder
if we were in a world war if Bush would stop tax cuts and ask people to stop spending. On second thought this is Bush we're talking about. He'll get us in a world war and wouldn't tell anybody and his little freeper supporters would probably go to Disney world.

8. The Resource Wars . . . . . so true.
And it may be the last war. So sad.

I go by the theory that if you have to actually TELL people it was WWIII, it probably wasn't WWIII.

15. Well, they wanted their WW4 and GWB + LIHIOP gave it to them.
Acknowledging it doesn't make me a troll.

25. I think it was WW3 as far as the "3rd world" is concerned.
The so called Cold War was nothing but a war on poor people all over the globe.

21. thank you
so few people remember the Cold War. It took many years before our own government recognized Cold War veterans. I'm one.

3. I would also say no
of course, many of the GOP base has "intrests" in starting WWIII. (e.g. Rapture, 2nd Coming of Jesus, 1000 years of peace)

So to bring about a mythical piece, they eventually want to start a huge war.

4. No doubt about it
We were always led to believe that WWIII would be some nuclear disaster of epic proportions and millions of deaths. WWIII is now a lying government making up reasons to go to war ala mushroom cloud. It is a prolonged assault on the Middle East to keep "our way of life", their words (Bush I), not mine. This is a war with no end. If we are always fighting terrorism, it can never end. It can be slowed, but not ended. The problem is the corrupt group who exploit to reach other ends. The lining of oil pockets with $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

7. Bush is trying to turn it into one.
It really was more suited to be a police action rather than a full scale attack with an army.

14. Things are not going
according to plan, I don't think. The U.S. and Israel, along with an ever-more reluctant UK, would like very much for the world to acknowledge that World War III is going on and therefore for all to side with this trio of Petro-Judeo-Christian Armageddon Rapture Cultists as this bloc wages war against the "terr'ists" who won't give up the oil and/or make peace with Israel (on the latter's terms).

The problem is that Europe (all of it, not just "Old Europe") is sick of war. Germany and Japan are permanently pacifistic. Many who have studied the issue realize 9-11 very well may have been an "inside job." There are best-selling books in Europe making this point. Even Canada is creating tension by refusing to sign on to the missile shield. And, of course, Mexico and South America are now permanently anti-American and they were never pro to begin with.

Russia might have remained in this "coalition," but it now suspects that the "oligarchs" such as Berezovsky are behind some of its own terrorism/civil war in Chechnya and elsewhere. The "oligarchs" have dual Israeli citizenship in many cases and so it is difficult to coalesce on behalf of a country whose substantial citizens are now apparently trying to break up Russia. I don't think Russia trusts Islam any more than we do, but they cannot ignore these continued provocations. It is a paranoid "wounded bear" gradually regaining strength after the devastating collapse of its Soviet empire. One general strongly implied that the Beslan massacre was masterminded by British intelligence.

Russia is one of the last defenders of the nation-state. It is clear that the powers that be in Washington, New York and London see the nation-state as an outdated concept which must give way to global corporate governance (what they "Big Lie"-ingly call "democracy") under the new Pentagon doctrine laid out by Thomas P.M. Barnett. (The Pentagon's New Map is the name of his book.)

China has ties to Iran and Pakistan. It does not have a history as an imperialist power such as do the Anglo-Americans. It is going about protecting its interests in other ways. But it has enough nuclear weaponry to "stand off" the Yankee/Limey dogs and our corporations are up to their eyeballs in taking advantage of their slave labor.

The world did not have to end in a nuclear war. But I do not see the Cheneys of the world going down without taking the whole world down with them.

23. Excellent summary. With a comment about the UK
Edited on Thu Mar-03-05 10:54 AM by higher class
you say 'ever reluctant'...my gut tells me they are full force with only a reluctance about the deaths. I can see how they are pulled because of the EU. It would be wonderful if in their reluctance they finally back off from their alliance with the Admin...that should slow down the Admin PNAC JINSA AEI etc cabal.

I don't see how the cabal can do it if it is only the Admin, Sharon, ad the House of Saud.

Sidenote: I may only be fooling myself...but I can't regard this war as my war or our war - therefore, I refuse to say the U.S. To parallel that, I must say Sharon instead of Israel.

Another way of saying it is - it is the earth resources and riches crowd, the cabal.

Thanks for your summary of it which appears to be deadly accurate.

19. Thanks for the great posts, we still don't have a clear consensus,
Although I would like to know CAnuck's source. Where did you read that it isn't a WW until Italy is invaded? Or are you just being funny?

Does it seem that most people think we're not in a WW yet, but could be in it soon? :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

20. By my reckoning...
Afghanistan = Occupation of the Rhineland

Iraq = Austrian Anschluss

Next invasion = Rape of Czechoslovakia: the world will piss and moan, but they'll still let the US get away with it

(interlude: reclamation of the Memel Land)

Invasion after that = The Balloon Goes Up
