Bankruptcy bill: If you could play God, what would you do?
Would you:

a. Allow the bankruptcy bill to pass thereby guaranteeing a large Democratic pickup of House and Senate seats in 2006/2008?

or

b. Cause all Democrats and enough GOPers to develop conscience and strike down this immoral law, thus preserving the livelihood of those likely to be harmed by this bill but also making it LESS likely that the Dems pick up seats?

1. this is about where I'm at with this whole second term
if * pisses enough people off, and the country goes to the shitter at this pace, it could spell the end for the Repugs for a long time.

Problem is, millions of innocent people will be dragged down with them due to the tragically bad policies. It's hard to sit back and let it happen, but...

2. I just couldn't sacrifice people's well-being
to the political machine. Even if there were guarantees that the republicans couldn't come up with another gay/wedge issue to hoodwink the voting public, and this would spell the death of the republican party, I couldn't stand by and watch all these people get hurt by this dreadful legislation.

I heard someone say today that this is good because of all those deadbeats out there. Made me nauseated. They charge outragous interest rates because of the risk assumed, so they claim, but this bill decreases their risk while doing nothing to reduce interest rates. I explained this to the guy and he just looked at me like I was a hopeless little girl. Grrrrrrrrrrr

3. Since there are no more "Class Action" Law suits
1. Onesie-twosie individual law suits against each credit card issuer for each client - to set aside all usurious charges, late charges, overage charges, etc.

Since there are no more class actions - there are no more "res judicata" defenses - the banks have to "respond" in each case.

Nothing to stop networks of plaintiff lawyers from exchanging all documents to keep costs down.

2. Onesie-twosie individual law suits against each health insurance carrier to set aside any cancellations of policies after loss of employment and diagnosis. I call this "Mandatory COBRA by Court Order.

Again, since there are no more class actions - there are no more "res judicata" defenses - the insurance mafioso have to "respond" in each case.

Again, nothing to stop networks of plaintiff lawyers from exchanging all documents to keep costs down.

3. And, of course, shareholder lawsuits against BofA, Wachovia, MBNA, CITI, Chase, etc. -- for wasting shareholder money of frivolous defenses -- after they have lost law suit on even one account. It's called a Sarbanes-Oxley Sword.

I am old time ACLU volunteer pro bono lawyer -- make the illegitimati pay.

4. don't be so sure about guaranteeing Democratic pickups . . .
in coming elections . . . Republicans have proven again and again that they're willing to vote against their own best interests . . . just as long as we don't allow those damned gays to marry . . .

5. I'd make sure the meat at the next major Repuke gathering was tainted
Then they'd all be too busy shitting their lives out of their wrinkled old asses, to have time to screw with the bankruptcy laws.

6. that all depends not
on the political machines as much as does upon the blackbox voting machines.

but who would know the difference?

on pre-edit, i meant machinations, not machines.
