Lou Dobbs said earlier that Giuliana Sgrena 's contention that the car she |
|
was traveling in was intentionally fired upon by American soldiers "IS AN IDIOTIC CHARGE BY A COMMUNIST NEWSPAPER"!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did anyone hear that? He dismissed the entire tragic thing saying 'IT IS AN IDIOTIC CHARGE BY A COMMUNIST NEWSPAPER". I AM STILL TRYING TO CATCH MY BREATH!

Resorting to ad hominem shows that the speaker has nothing substantial on their side.

even Sgrena herself, who was actually shot at and who had a man die on top of her, used more tact and thought in what she said.

They also brought in a man from the Heritage Foundation, and another man from another RW think tank(I think it was a RW think tank anyway), to make sure people understood what the story was really about.
This is why no story will ever bring this administration down. There will be no Watergate. Iran/Contra didn't get the job done either. Don't wait for a story to take them down, because it will not happen.

I haven't tuned in for months, but I wanted to see how whoreish he was going to be on this incident. I'm not disappointed.
Why isn't the car being produced? That could show whether or not it was at the location of a check-point when fired upon. It would show whether the shots came from the front, back, or side. Experts would probably even be able to tell how fast the car was going.

21. i saw some of tweety last night ... i think he was trying to make it as if |
|
sgrena's pro-communist writings in a communist newspaper and her antiamerican, antiwar stances rendered her delusional, a liar, or worse yet someonw using a situation in which her car and her companion were riddled with bullets to sell her antiamerican stance. it was mind blowing to say the least!..not to mention the italian journalist who was in the program, who while he praised sgrena as a serious, reputable journalist, said that her experience may have made her mind presently not an altogether mind...i wonder if he was bought in any way by tweety, the white house, or anyone else in the pentagon or the republican party.

12. She's a reporter and a civilian, she's not a newspaper. And she also |
|
has allowed in interviews that perhaps it was a terrible blunder rather than an intentional "hit."
But if her captors told her she was in danger from the US, as a critic of the US in Iraq and as the beneficiary of an Italian ransom policy the US would like to end (as she said they did tell her before her release), and then the car she's riding in is shot up by US troops, her comments aren't at all that surprising.
More pertinent perhaps is what is said by the Italian secret service/intelligence guys who were there which apparently the media here doesn't want to highlight while they're fuming about the "absurdity" of Ms. Sgrena's comments. Their remarks regarding the event appear to contradict the US accounts. Presumably the Italian intelligence agents are neither communists or employees of a communist newspaper.

14. Tweety: U.S. authorities say it was a "temporary" check-point |
|
but he's still shilling for Bush, saying that a temporary check-point is still a check-point and the shooting was justified. I guess any US soldier can go anywhere and shoot anyone, saying after the fact that they were running a "temporary" check-point.

18. Ah a checkpoint that apparently isn't clearly a checkpoint |
|
until they start shooting at you, at which time it's far too late.
Or does Tweety figure that intelligence agents, aware of the danger, passed safely through other checkpoints only to ignore another checkpoint, which the driver said it wasn't (or at least it wasn't obviously a checkpoint)?
Seems to me that our CHP/local cops must do a better job operating DUI checkpoints on our streets here than the military does in Iraq, if it's so easy to be confused about the difference between a patrol patrolling and a patrol's "temporary checkpoint."

16. Chris Matthews just said he'd be talking about the "spin" going on |
|
' "over there" (by which he seemed to mean "in Italy") and "Why are we getting blamed?"
Uh, Chris, we're getting blamed because we supposedly tried to stop a speeding car but when we shot up the car, only the Italian intelligence chief in the back seat was killed -- when he threw himself in front of the rescued journalist. We supposedly didn't know they were going to be coming, yet there was a plane at the airport waiting for them. We don't know about planes at the airport in Baghdad?
:eyes:
And now the Army "doesn't know" what happened to the bullet-riddled car?
:eyes:
Tony Blankley is on Matthews's show -- he's the smarmy guy who allegedly edits the Washington Times, though he spends so much time spewing RW talking points on TV I wonder when he finds time to edit. Anyway, Tony claims our military isn't trained to assassinate people and goes on to add that she is a communist who writes for a communist newspaper. "It's even called Il Manifesto!" he adds, as if that tells all.
:eyes:
Abrams spewed the same Bushista line on his show. We'll see if Olberman can be a little less biased.

Because her paper or (she I don't know) is Communist that she doesn't tell the truth?
I get it. Communists liars. Capitalists truth tellers.
Ha ha ha.
Absurd. What the fuck does that mean? It's just a bunch of words to convince the people everything is a okay in Amerikay.
Truly absurd.

but that doesn't help the situation with our allies. The more the Right-wing media digs its heels in and screams "idiotic" and "communist," the guiltier the US looks in the eyes of the world.
