Dick Durbin is addressing the C-SPAN viewers from the senate floor. It's sort of cool, and he's digging into the Republicans. I'm starting to hope he runs for President.... I know, I know, he's a Senator...but Kerry almost won, he was a senator. And Kennedy! And maybe the problem is we just don't nominate enough good senators? I dunno. I like him.

5. Nah. I think we have room for both |
|
Usually the "Kerry DID win" people come out more for the bashing threads, don't they?

:hi: We have to stop giving the GOP the advantage of dividing and conquering ourselves so they don't have to.

3. Dick Durbin is doing a fine job as Minority Whip |
|
He has also been outstanding on this Bankruptcy bill. I only hope he can whip up enought support for a filibuster. You know he wants to, you can see it in his eyes ^_^.
he would make a really good President. He has a consistent voting record and an "Average Joe" appeal that would play well in the heartland. If he runs, I will support him.

4. I absolutely adore Senator Durbin. |
|
But he will be up for re-election in 2008 and I really don't want him to give up his Senate seat. We need him in Illinois...

9. He could run for re-election at the same time w/o campaigning |
|
And if he wins, your governor (who's name I still can't pronounce), will appoint another Democrat.

8. A vote on cloture takes place tommorow. |
|
If 40 Senators vote NO on cloture, the bill dies. If Carper, Biden, Johnson, and Nelson (NE) all vote AYE, we can still block the bill as long as the other 40 dems (or 39 plus Jeffords) vote NO.

10. Yes, He did us all very proud! |
|
He very succinctly said the thugs are asses, protecting corporate America and throwing the rest of us to the wolves! I hope he had a LARGE audience this afternoon!
BTW, NBC news kicked Halliburtin (been doing business with Iran for the entire time the restrictions aginst doing so have been in place) and bushhitler's butt all over the place ( sending prisoners to foriegn countries to be tortured during interrogation) IMO, something is about to blow! There is just way too much dissension among the ranks for this all to blow over! It looks as if the media blackout is starting to break ranks!
